HiI have a problem. I have found a method of creating loco sounds that, at least for non-turbo EMD locos is quite realistic. A few who have tested my proof-of-concept appear to be impressed. It should be just as good for turbo EMDs also.Instead of crossfading between throttle changes, I can use actual wave files with real sound changes. I use 25 different wav files, sounds bad but in actual fact probably uses less CPU horsepower than crossfading. My problem is I can't release it. I do not have any sounds to use that I can release. For this proof of concept test I put my sounds together from another source and I'm sure they would be Copyrighted. My question is, does anyone have access to good stereo cab sounds with all throttle changes, one step at a time, as well as steady for ten seconds or more at each postition, hopefully with minimal non-engine sounds. Of course, without copyright restrictions would also be nice. For now, I'd prefer non-turbo EMD as that's what I'm testing with. For the external (eng) sounds, I can fake them up with some refiltering from the cab sounds but it would be better if actual external sounds could also be found for the same prime mover type.A friendly engineer with a good recorder could do the recordings (from the cab and from a walkway) without the need for any extra bodies around. Just a matter of placing the equipment, starting the recorder and working as normal. To give you an idea of what I've done, you could listen to the engine sounds in the TrainMaster 4 demo program as an example of in-cab prime mover sounds that come much closer to "As Real As It Gets".I don't post my e-mail address (anti-spam measure). If you wish to me contact directly, send a private message, it's the second icon from the left under the date at the top of this post.I'm just running this up the flagpole to see what happens.GaryG
Gary, you might want to try downloading some of the "Ulimate" sound sets available at www.uktrainsim.co.uk as these already do what your discribing. They use playoneshots between looped sections to play actual recordings of engines reving up/down, and all from one Stream. They've been available for a while now and are fairly refined. They include AI and Helper loco versions as well. They are though of UK diesel electric locos. As the sms author of these sound sets I'd happily 'beta' test any of your scripts, if you're intrested.Stuart
Hi StuartWill give it a try, probably start with the 'Warship' class later after the free download counter resets. The link you gave doesn't appear to work but .com instead of .co.uk did work.GaryG
Stuart, your e-mail address from the sounds D/L appears to be dead: scefhwil @ barrysworld.co.uk (added spaces to avoid showing as a link) forced failure: User unknownand trying private mail here gives: "Sorry, you cannot send private message to scefhwil... User scefhwil has disabled his/her personal inbox."I'd like to send some comments. Perhaps your email address via private message here to me.GaryG
Hi stuart, any chance of attaching some of your 'ultimate series' sms files here, as im working on a similar sound system and would appreciate your sms's for information / help with my project.much appreciated if possiblemarko
