I downloaded the sound fix from the file library for the default GP38. Has anyone else noticed the dynamic brake sound to be almost inaudible? On my system I can easily hear the dynamics in the default Dash 9, but I can not hear them at all in the GP38. I'm wondering if this is a problem specific to my system or not. Thanks.Shawn

I think MS forgot to include a GP38 dynamic brake sound. What really surprised me is that that patch is more like the SD40-2 sound, in the GP38, the engine goes up to notch 4. I think I may be uploading GP38-2 sounds in a few days with the proper sound.

RE: GP dynamic brake sound

That would explain why I'm not able to hear the sounds. Thanks Robert. The idle and run 1 are so loud on the GPs that the other positions sound very quiet, hence the reason I can't hear the dynamics on my GPs.Shawn

RE: GP dynamic brake sound

Shawn -If you download and dissect either of my diesel sound packages you will find how to get the dynamic brake plus higher engine speed sounds to work.Hope this helps,

Hey Phil,
Do you mind if I include the generic 1 sounds with a locomotive pack that I plan to eventually upload? They sound great for my GP20s that I plan on releasing around the time I release my route. I will make sure to give you credit for the sounds. Thanks.Shawn

If this saves me work, I'm not going to figure out how to get my air brake sounds to work (for some reason they are silent) Thanks for telling us.

RE: GP dynamic brake sound

Shawn,Glad you like them. Please feel free to include the sounds in the pack, just as long as the pack is free.Just out of curiosity, what is the route? And have you tried the other diesel and steam sounds?Best,
Phil

RE: GP dynamic brake sound

The route is a fictitious short line that runs between Wenatchee and Cashmere, Washington. It is about 15 miles long with a paper mill, saw mill, refinery, and several other trackside industries. You can view screen shots "in-progress" here: http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/11208.htmlI haven't really messed with any of the other sounds yet, but I plan on changing the sounds for my BNSF #2099 GP38-2 that is in the file library, along with chaning it to use the common EMD GP/SD cab that is in the file library.Nevermind my silly request above Phil. I was just thinking, why increase download size when they can just download what you have posted in the file library (and then it will end up taking up less hard drive space) . That was a minor case of speaking before thinking. Thanks again!Shawn
