Would it be possible to add a sound script, somewhere (shape file?), to manual points, so you could hear some sort of scraping / crunching noise as the movement takes place when you press the "G" key? Obtaining a suitable sound would not be a problem; it's how to trigger it. Thank you for any advice.
Just as you said, you'd have to have a trigger for something like that and MSTS just doesn't have it hard-coded in. Have to wait for MSTS2 and see if they make any changes for the better in the audio department there.Regards, Dan Zollner - 3DTrains http://www.3dtrains.com
Dan, Is it possible to have sound when you pass over a switch? Whether you're taking the normal or reversed path you still hear something... That would add a lot of realism (if one could collect good enough source audio), not just the default "clunk" sounds MSTS has...
Yes, that is possible by inclusion of a sound region. Vince simulated this when you go over crossovers on his NEC4.0 route. It sounds good when it works right, but many times it's not worth the trouble. There is a separate entry for points that can be included in the ttype.dat file, but it doesn't seem to work at this time. One of those things that KUJU never got around to getting to work I guess.
