Is it possible to have 2 engine sounds coming from 1 Engine file and having them rev at slightly different rates and how would I if I could?

If I can find it, I'll release it...

I think it's possible if you use double steams and slightly different wave files for 2 engine sound. But you need separate enging sound from other sound first. ( like krswen's gesnd10.zip )But if you want to emulate randomize RPM shift, that may be difficult, you may use 2 different long period (and RPM shifted) sound record or use randomize play play several slightly different engine sound files (2 steams at same time).

This may be stupid, but find a train with 2 locos that have turbo 645s.

Yes, it is possible. I'm not quite sure how steadfast you are in SMS File scripting, but thats the basic idea:1) Create the engine rev stream you want for one engine. Means, choose your file and fix up the speedrelated and load related pitch and/or volume curves. Test and tune until you're happy with it.2) Duplicate that stream as your second engine stream in the same SMS file. Tweak the volume and/or pitch curves to that it sounds a little different. For better test remove the first engine stream from the file and store it in an temporary file for later insertion.3) Once your happy with the 2nd sound stream, load the 1st sounds stream back from your temp file into the engines SMS file and see how it works. One suggestion also:
If you copy the same engine sound streams into ScalabilityGroup 0, then those sounds are also available for AI/Multiunit use.
I found out that creating a separate ENG-File for AI/Multiunit use with the same SMS file definition creates a better sound for a multiunit consist than using the same ENG-File twice in the conist.Don't ask me why.If you need assistance, post.Pittmike.

PittmikeI have never done anything with a sound file before so what you said went right over my head. If you could break it down to the beginners level I'll try it!
