Thanks for the help on scalabilty!! Now we need to know what is meant by priority 6,5,4, etc. We are setting ours all at 6. We were wondering what effect the priority has on the overall sound? Does priority give some sounds more importance than others?
Thanks for the help!

RE: Priority

Yes, that's basically it.I was working on a route, and noticed when there was a lot of ai traffic and other sounds around, you didn't hear the "ok to proceed" message at departure time. So I went into INGAME.SMS and set the priority for the first block (which includes these, and the "permission denied" "permission granted" of the signalman) to 9, and it was then always audible.Alan

RE: Priority

Does that mean I can put priority as high as we want? WE thought volume controlled the loudness of the sound. Now are you saying priority controls which sounds are heard over other sounds in that sms? We are working on eng. and cab.sms. What we are trying to do is improve the quailty of sounds heard outside the engine and in the cab when the train is running and standing still. We can not hear coupling and uncoupling inside the cab. We have made the assumpation that this is a problem in the program. Is the a valid assumpation or should we continue to work on the problem? Thanks to people posting on train sim we have been able to now hear the compressor inside and outside the train.
Again thanks
We appreciate your input.

RE: Priority

Well, this is pure guesswork, but I believe that MSTS can only play a certain number of sounds. (There is in option a slider called "quantity of sounds" - I suspect this also has an effect)It decides which ones to play based on the priority settings - so yes increase the priority of certain sounds by all means, but don't be surprised if others stop working when you do that. It's a fine balance.Alan
