Hi Marko,
I did the audio for Dekosoft's UP Super Set, so I'll list what was included in that set. I'll leave the opinions and recommendations to the other users that frequent this forum. I used the 645 from a SD40-2 for the SD40-2 and GP40-2 included in the super set. The GP38-2 and GP38AC use 645 source audio sampled from a GP38AC. The GP35s use 567 audio sampled from a GP9. It is possible to alias to the set as I have included generic sms files for just this reason. All that is needed is a basic understanding on how to do this, or shooting myself or someone else who knows their way around this an e-mail to assist you should you need it. Hope this helps, at least on what was included with the UP Super Set.

RE: Dekosoft vs Mapleleaf sounds?

I would get both if you can afford it.The KHP2 from MapleLeaf Tracks is great but as they seem to do end their routes short of a yard or town with yards.Thats my pet peeve with them.Other than that the route is great and they've got the EMD sounds down with an AI sms you can add to other AI's.

Dekosofts UP SUPER SET is worth the money also and the guys at Dekosoft are very responsive if you have a problem. The sounds and Loco's are Awesome so get both and you can run UP power on the Kicking Horse Pass. Just Rollin Down The Tracks Dale

RE: Dekosoft vs Mapleleaf sounds?

When I first got MLT's KHP2, the engine sounds were simply the best available. The cab chatter really adds. First course of action: Alias all my 2nd gen stuff to it. After a while, all the same-sounds-in-all-applicable-loco's began to be a bit repetitous. Then along comes Dekosoft with their new sounds packages and bingo: Nirvana was reached. The Deko GP35 sounds will likly be most used aliasing to 1st generation EMD's. It's that good. Best roots blower sound out there. In the final analysis, I will be aliasing both MLT's and Deko's sounds hither and yon for as much variety in sounds as possible. If you can afford them, I'd go for both.If you can only afford one, I'd go for Dekosoft's UP Super Set.Andre Ming

RE: Dekosoft vs Mapleleaf sounds?

GP35's were turbocharged, so they sound nothing like a Geep9.Or, are the ones in the UP pack representing rebuilds? It seems WC had some deturboed 35's....Todd

No, the represented 35s are turbocharged....we just didn't have any turbo 567 audio samples to work from. Believe it or not, if you don't have the source audio for a turbo 567 it's rather hard to come by. Rather than not include the GP35s because we didn't throw in the correct audio we sent it out with normally aspirated 567 audio that can be updated later. However, because we have this audio we can use it for other locomotives that didn't have a turbocharged 567 and it saves me time later. Regards,

Only three (I think) different models were built for NA use, the GP30, 35 and SD35. Not many left today.I would say just use the 645 turbo sounds, but the few 567 turbos I have heard did not sound the same. Much louder turbo as I recall.Todd

RE: Dekosoft vs Mapleleaf sounds?

"GP35's were turbocharged, so they sound nothing like a Geep9."Really? Seriously, the above statement is true, but the original question asked about available sounds.Insofar as the Deko GP35 sounds going to be upgraded, then I suggest to any potential user that you go purchase the current set that has these 567 non-turbo sounds for all of your first generation non-turbo. You will then eventually get a "bonus" sound pack once Deko upgrades the 35 sounds! Can't beat that with a stick, huh?Andre

RE: Dekosoft vs Mapleleaf sounds?

I too, am aliasing all my EMD sounds to the new Deko(Dan Zollner's) sound package; and adding new sms files for various horns for the appropriate railroads. Very nice indeed! Ron K of Rockford

RE: Dekosoft vs Mapleleaf sounds?

Hello Jim,
I've been having problems with that. What procedure did you use to change the horns? Where are the .sms files located to use for an alias? I changed the SD38-2 sounds to the 567 sounds that came with the GP35's. But im trying to get rid of that awful horn. A horn file that came with it (cfnr is the name of the horn)
would be a good fit for it. What steps did you take?
