Nobody can hear them because I don't think there is a wav file for it under Train Simulator\Sound.Bob

Hey! On the MSTS box, it says "For entertainment purposes only." No wonder that it was som much different than WC's SD45 sim!

RE: No Coupling Sounds from Cabview ?

There are both stereo and mono un/coupling sounds and they are in the global sound folder. You may find that in the sms's used by your loco's some aliasing has been done that incorrectly points to a loco or common.snd folder which means the loco never plays uncoupling sounds. You think that the loco does in external view but in fact you're just are hearing the same .wav file being played by the wagon/coach. In fact you only need the .wav file name for these sounds in the loco sms's. The sim will looking in the loco's sound folder first then if the file isn't there it will check the global folder next by default. But this approach means two disc accesses are needed (ie adds to stutter in the sim) so I'd recommend absolute aliasing to the global sound folder ie"../../../../SOUND/x_couple_auto1.wav"

Hey Richard 'rgh69', Dank U, bedankt (Nederlands ? Vlaamisch ?) !Guess you mean activate Cabcam () in *cab.sms in the sound folders?
But not the answer, ALL engines are incapable of rendering coupling sounds from Cabview ! Tried it ?
Friendly regards !
<Meintest wohl Cabcam() in der *cab.sms des Soundordners aktivieren.
Auch nicht die Lösung, ALLE Loks sind für Kupplungsgeräusche stumm !
Hast Du es mal probiert ?
Freundliche Grüße !>

Hallo OldieDaddy, I'm Dutch Serious I've got coupling and decoupling sounds inside the cab, I've got the German Railroads DB217 and I did change in the DB217 sound folder the 217eng.SMS. Just move the Cabcam () into the activation line. Works without a problem. Let me try that with a Dash-9. Be right back.Yes, works for the Dash-9 as well, just in the Engines Sound folder, edit the *eng.sms file, move the cabcam into the activation field. Works perfect!

Met vriendelijke groet,
Richard.

Hey Flying Dutchman Richard !You 're a sound GENIUS
Good to talk to an expert !Yep, it DOES work !So, if I understand correctly, coupling sounds don't reflect from cabviews by hard code.
But if one ACTIVATES the CabCam () in the *eng.sms, one can hear outside engine sounds from the cab. Another bugged Kuju detail...
Whether this does not mess up stereo/mono ? Will further test !Merci, Dank U wel, mijnheer ! No Coupling Sounds from Cabview ? – image 11

Graag gedaan! You're welcome! The only 'downside' I can find would be that you will get a somewhat mixed soundstream from the out- and inside of the engine. Just the sounds from close by the engine that is though. If you would decouple, let's say the fourth wagon from the engine, you wouldn't hear the uncoupling sound anymore. Makes sense though because you wouldn't hear that in real life either. I think it doesn't mess up the stereo sound.

Met vriendelijke groet,
Richard.

RE: No Coupling Sounds from Cabview ?

Sure, Dutch Richard.
Hearing coupling sound only makes sense if you (the driver) are just a few meters away from the event. Fully agree !Inviting you to critically revisit 'Harzquerbahn' Sounds, once the new version will go public.
Shd be 4-5 weeks from now, when Jan & Nick will back from their well deserved holiday break.& Bedankt again !P.S. Would be great to enjoy your expertise as an advanced Betatester, drop me a mail if you so desire ?

RE: No Coupling Sounds from Cabview ?

OldieDaddy,That's too much credit for me, I am by no means an expert. All I usually do is change things, see if it works and if it's an improvement I'm happy. Not because I have knowledge about sound issues. What I can though is research an issue and find the answer.

Met vriendelijke groet,
Richard.
