I understand you can modify volume of specific sounds in their respective .sms file? Howa 'bout making the horn louder? How do I go about using this? I cracked open one .sms file to see if I could do anything on my own, but I don't see anything regarding volume. Any help is appreciated-Jeff
Most of the "Stream ( .... " groups in the .sms files CAN have a Volume command. Most do not. If none is listed, the sim assumes that you want the .wav file played at full volume.I know you can turn down the volume with a value of 0.8, for example. I don't know if the sim will recognize a value greater than 1.0 ..... I haven't experiemented yet.To increase a sound I would download Goldwave and use the effects/volume/change commands. Then save it as the same filename to overwrite the old one (first I would save the original in a folder outside of the Trains folder).krswen
A problem I've encountered in making the horn louder is that the sound-editing software I'm using (Cakewalk Pyro) makes the filesize much larger (50% increase in volume increases the file size 4 times) and after that, it won't play at all.Can you shed any light on this? Does the Goldwave software maintain somewhere near original file size? Thanks,MC
