Is there any way to get the units behind the lead unit to reflect the throttle position of the lead unit (soundwise)? I've tried some things, but they haven't worked. Any ideas? Or is this just not possible? Hopefully MSTS2 will have this capability.
There appears to be no way to get them to mimic the lead loco throttle setting. You could do what MLT did with their locos in the Sandpatch route. They created a special .eng file which calls a special .sms file which plays various power level engine sounds as a function of SPEED. Trouble is, if you are at N8 at 20mph and throttle back your lead unit to say, N3, the AI unit just behind it will stay in N8 until the train speed decays, then will work down notch by notch. What I'm doing with my locos is a third option: a "muted" AI unit for use in consists right behind my lead unit, and save the "speed-related" AI units for DP (mid-train) and pusher locations.krswen
