*************************I own the 3DPM sound pack and love it, but for some reason cannot get the sounds to work with this paticular car. The file name for the car is "bnbethg.zip" in the file library. The car loads and looks great, but there are only default MSTS sounds (which is nothing!). The problem also exists on the following files:bnbethg.zip
bnbeth.zip
bn2bethg.zipI just cannot get the 3DPM to work on any of these cars, loaded or unloaded versions. It works on every other car I've put it on, and I just refuse to use anything without these sounds, but I really want these great hopper cars! Please help!

Try removing one of the five ")" above BrakeEquipmentType. I did a quick count, and I think there is one too many. If so, the extra bracket is closing off the wag file before the program reads the sound statement.Jeff

RE: What is wrong with this .wag file?? (3DPM sound won

Thank you very much guys. I don't know how I didn't see that, but I guess it is just because I didn't design the car and I expected it to be set up properly in the first place! I had a computer problem this morning that made me do a re-install of my OS, but when I get MSTS back on there I'm sure it will work. Thanks again!

You should have used the bracket check function in EngMod.EngMod can find the bracket problems in all your 'other' files.Derek

Okay, you guys sparked my interest and I ran the bracket check in engmod, and ended up with 12 pages of errors out of 71670 items checked.I just realized that now I don't have a clue at what I'm looking for in the wag/eng files. Is there a tutorial anywhere on this?

John, just go to the bottom of the lighting section of each wag and delete one of the ). It is a major PITA, but you can really see the difference once you do.What I did was edit the error report to put the wag files in one group, eng file in another, etc. Then as I would edit the wag file I would delete that line from the file.Kevin Arceneaux

Okay, so the major screw up is the lighting. Also I noticed all the coilcars in Bill's megapack were on the list too.Thanks, I knew either you or Brad would have the answer.

It has a bracket follow function, so you can pair each bracket set off.Derek EngMod@sgrail.org

Derek
With jedit is there a plugin that you use to identify incorrect bracketing or do you just work progressively through the file checking the bracket pairing out.thanks

RE: What is wrong with this .wag file?? (3DPM sound won

HiJust because EngMod says there is an error, don't assume just deleting a ")" will cure the actual problem.EngMod also counts brackets within the Description part of the file, the text within the quotes. I had a few locos that had errors in that part, there was not actually an error within the file itself, just the description. Try to be sure about what the error is before deciding where to add or delete a "(" or ")".EngMod just counts how many of each there and if the number doesn't match, it's flagged as a file with an error. At least I'm assuming that's more or less how it works.I'm not putting EngMod down at all, it is a great program. It would be a major project to attempt to put enough intelligence within any program to do a full analysis of these files. Heck even Kuju didn't get it all correct GaryG

This is the SW-1000 eng file ---Could that be an extra bracket between the description and the operating procedures?---------------------------Description (
"EMD SW1000 diesel-electric Switcher; 118 SW1000s were built between "Width: 10'2". (3.1 m)"
)

HiLooking at another .eng file, there is only one ")" between these two sections so I would guess there is a extra.GaryG
