RE: Track Sound

You have three choices when it comes to changing the track sounds.First, you can exchange the default track sounds between routes. To do this, look in the route's root folder (the folder with the route's name) and locate a file called ttype.dat. Re-name it to something like ttype.old, and copy and paste a ttype.dat from one of the other default routes into that folder. AFAIK, the European routes use one type of track sound, the Japanses routes use a second type, and the USA routes use a third type. You can open each ttype.dat file in Wordpad to examine the files.Second choice, go out and get some 3rd party track sounds, and read the included readme for installation instructions. A long time ago, I purchased (yes, payware, about $8.00 USA) some track sounds called ETA (Enhanced Track Audio, http://www.railwaves.com/), which I am very pleased with.Your third choice is to make the sounds yourself. Open each .sms file that is referenced in ttype.dat to see the structure, and substitute your own .wav files for the default .wav's. All the track sound files are located in the global Sound folder.Edit: typo

I was just (Sun afternoon) reading your comments above, and I prompty jumped over and ordered the files. If they're anything like the sample, they'll be a nice improvement. Thanks.
