I was looking at it, but you have no descriptions on what each horn is. You needed to included where each horn was and what type\railroad it is from. I would not download it with out this type of information.Kevin Arceneaux

Hmmm. The reason to that is that I didn't know myself what type of whistles it is or what railroad they come from. I'm not very intrested iether just as long as it sounds good. I wonder how many that wonder just what whistle the loco they are driving have. I just thought we needed some more whistles to our small, medium, big steam locomotives. I hope you understand that my knowleges about train whistles/horns aren't many and that I only wanted to provide some good sounds, you don't have to download it if you don't want to because the lack of knowlege about the product disturbs you.If you want to write a description chart for each whistle/horn then you are more than welcome and I will upload it so that people can see just what whistle it is and where it belongs./Jonatan

Jonaton,Since you clearly state that you did not do the original recordings there may be a problem or two with your file.At the very least you need to list where you got the original samples and match them to your file name in the documentation.You maybe violating copyrights on them.
To avoid that you need to document your source and provide the appropriate attribution and/or permission from the original owners.A similar thing happened in the past with the 5 Chime Consultants Airhorn Samples....Lessons Learned the Hard Way.

That was me. I didn't distribute them, but I asked someone to modify them and he said no because they were copyrighted. Later I asked the site owner for permission to redo and upload them. He gave me the highball. You can see them in the file library. Just search for John Means.LaterNW 1218LONG LIVE THE F40C!

You made my point for me!What I was trying to do was to get young master Jonaton to do the right thing and make sure he has permission before he goes and uploads files that have 3rd party content in them...

OK, I'll ask Nels to remove them from the library. I don't even know who did them as the owner of the sites didn't have any documentation about that iether.Now I guess a lawsuit is in order as I even singed my E-mail in the readme. But I don't think that all to many cares, do you?/Jonatan

But, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. If one of those sounds was one I had stood in the rain or ran down along side the tracks to record and you used it without my permission you would be getting a very nasty letter right about now.You coping an attitude is not the right thing to do. You should just say yep I goofed and now I will fix it. Then you write the owner of the site and ask him where he got the sounds and what they are and can you have permission to edit them and upload them to Train-Sim.com! I will bet that he would say yes providing you credited him for the original sounds. If the owner of the site doesn't reply or states they are not his sounds then you should quietly walk away. Its called the difference between right and wrong.Only the Iraqi Dis-Information Minister, Billary and the French can get away with blurring the line. Chuck Schneider

You meant well and that is good. Life is full of incidents like that..people call it experience...the older you are the more experienced you become.
If you can get permission from the owners of the sounds your package is a good idea.

Jon did you write to the owner of the site for permission like I suggested?
The Steam Whistle Pack is a good idea and would be well received by many IMHO if you got it done correctly...You have a good idea...

Yes, I have done that. But no anwswer and I don't think there will be any, it took some time too as I found them on different sites so searching wasn't easy. Now that I have asked and that I wait for answers, I have cleared my concience right? So I would be glad if we could drop this thread now. Thanks/Jonatan
