The sound file ..\\..\\..\\HHP\\SOUND\\x_hhp_brake.wav specified by the Can someone please help me? this is an error report from conbuilder as you can see there is a lot wrong here the .wave files are in the correct folder but the file does not see them. ..\\..\\..\\ < is this right? does it make a differance as to wich way the backslash is leaning? is 2 leavels correct or is it 3 as the hhp line suggests? dont get me wrong i love the work the guys at NALW do but this is very sloppy work my files are rife with errors like this mostly on NALW stuff. Short of putting a sound folder in every file how do i fix these errors? thx for any and all help Greg
I don't know how it happened, because my installation went find and I don't get any sms errors whatsoever, but some of the entries in your sms file are just plain off. I've included both of the sms files for the CR_GE for you to replace yours with. They're the originals, as given to us by NALW, so I don't see why there would be a problem with it. Be sure to put them in the correct location which is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\TRAINS\TRAINSET\Common.Snd\GE_FDL\Alias if you went by the default installation routine. Here you go. Regards, Dan Zollner - 3DTrains http://www.3dtrains.com
thx dan but it didnt work the org. .sms files has errors in them like this ..\\..\\..\\ or ..//..// then some of the files are in caps ie ..//..//Common.Snd//GE_FDL//Alias// or lower case or a mix of both in the same file. i think that i may have to edit each one by hand......

What's the problem Jester???? As far as I know you are the only one reporting this problem in over 5000 downloads... So I doubt very much that it is sloppy work! At least by us! Or someone other than you would be complaining...You are quite obviously changing something when you install these packages as they are clean on my machine....These packages use aliasing and complex relative addressing.... in order to save space on your hard drive.... There are no syntax errors in anything you have posted as all those varying forms of expressions are legal in MSTS....Write us off-line at nalw@cox.net please and let us see if we can help you.... If you had written us 1st we would probably have this resolved by now....BTW, accusing software authors like us of incredibly sloppy work will get you placed into the same bit bucket as RRichter...Chuck Schneider (Virtual) CEO North American (Virtual) Locomotive Works
The problem may be in ConBuilder, for some reason it does not like to see some files aliased for some reason (at least the last version of ConBuilder I tried), I did email the author of ConBuilder about the problem but never heard back from him..btw, I tried the program because of similar complaints like Jesters. The solution would be for a ConBuilder program that is supported by Microsoft/Kuju, because the program does have some neat features.Anyhow, like Chuck said, the files will work in msts without giving you errors, its ConBuilder that has the problem with what its seeing, so just ignore the report Jester and enjoy the sim Keep'em on the high iron!Best regards, Brad Brownwww.3DTrainStuff.com
I've found that ConBuilder does not recognize any file extensions that are in CAPS. This means that I had to go through all my files and manually change the file extensions to lower case.
Hi Jester,The sound file ../../../Dash9/sound/x_d9_sander.wav specified by the file ../../common.snd/ge_fdl/alias/CR_GEeng.sms does not exist in the folder D:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\TRAIN SIMULATOR\TRAINS\TRAINSET\NALW_C40-8 CR 6036\SOUND The error was found on this line: Discrete_Trigger ( 4 StartLoopRelease ( 1 File ( "../../../Dash9/sound/x_d9_sander.wav" -1 ) SelectionMethod ( SequentialSelection ) ) )This one shows a mistake.../../../Dash9/sound/x_d9_sander.wavshould be../../Dash9/sound/x_d9_sander.wavThats the only problem I cab see. However, something for you to try:-try putting the sms files in a sound folder in the nalw_c40-8 folder and see what happens.Derek
