Help w/ Sms files for Station Announcements in subway u

Hi,
I'm working on a fictional subway route and would like to include sound regions of station announcements (i.e. "Next Station: ...."). I've thought about it for a long time and decided that this is the best way. I'm having trouble with .sms files. The new Wiener U-Bahn 2.0 (sorry, spelling's wrong) has such sounds, but they're not working. This is what's in the .sms file:SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0x1t______Tr_SMS ( ScalabiltyGroup( 5

Well, here are a few things that could be mentioned but the first is that this sms script is for a sound source (ie yellow column in RE) not a sound region (ie a zone marked on track by little pryamids). Why? There is no TrackType () statement.

Sound Regions only work for one track type, you place a TrackType(x) in the Activation section where x denotes the track type id as given in your routes ttype.dat file. Note: TrackType (0) refers to the first track type, (1) the second etc.For the best understanding look in the ttype.dat file of a default route and then the various .sms's this refers to.

Thanks for the help...I'll try to figure something out. Just one more question, what's the syntax for: Dist_Travelled_Trigger ( Dist_Min_Max??

The Min and Max figures mean that the sms will choose a random distance somewhere between the two values. Same goes for the Volume_Min_Max. Gives a degree of randomness, unless both figures are the same.

Firstly, you are testing this in the sim whilst on a section of track that has the correctly associated track region laid?Secondly, at this level of de-bugging you would benefit greatly from having the Sound Test Interface activehttp://forums.atomic-systems.com/viewtopic.php?t=7658

That looks OK. But you also need to be running your testing consist on a section of track that has had the "TestSound" tracktype associated to it. This is done using the Route Editor. (I could do with posting an RE screen shot but I'm not currently at a PC with MSTS on it.)

I have everything correctly set up in MSTS. I get a change in sound, but the sound does not play. All I hear is silence from that sound channel.
