I know there was a solution posted for this problem a while ago, but it seems to have disappeared in the mists of time.I have a diesel engine on which the compressor runs to charge the system and shuts down. Then about 3 seconds later restarts and continues to run.Anybody got the solution please.

Have you modified .SMS by yourself? It might be, that compressor sound is not looped, so it starts again if more airpresure is needed. This happened to me, when i forget to define loop in compressor.wav file.Pasi
PasiThe .sms came with the soundset. It is a good point though,I'll check it.Stooopidperson and others, this is specific to one soundset, all others are OK, a reboot does not fix it, nor does a restart of MSTS.I had thought that the restart pressure in the .eng file was wrong, but applied the soundset to another engine,( which was working properly ), with the same result

Hi KevinI was going to use the biggest hammer I could find, but then thought that maybe, just maybe a very small spanner would do the job. Jammed it in there and all was quiet in the world. On a more serious note, I have now tracked down the source of my annoying problem, and it was indeed in the .eng file, caused by an imbalance in the pressures selected for the various parameters. The emregency res was set at 130. The trainbrakes were set at 110 and the compressor restart at 125. The respective values now in use are 90,100 and 90.
See if your independant brake value is different from the automatic in the engine file of that particualr unit. I have tried making the EngineBrake(Independant) on a gp38 to 38 pounds or so and left the TrainBrake (Automatic) at 85 or 90 pounds and the compressor runs all the time.rob20
