Recently I had to re-install MSTS and all the files that go with it. For some reason, the horn sounds are absent from the Locos from the GE mega-pak. I did find them in the Common sound folder, and am wondering on how to disperse them amongst the lcocos? Thanks in advance.
YOu will need to create Alias's to the units that you wish to use the soiunds. What I would recommend though for future un-installs is that you copy your entire Trainset folder and move it to a safe spot until you re-install Train-Sim.Then of course copy the files back into the correct location.I have so many units set up differently with Sounds & Cabs now that I would losse about a weeks time if I had to start doing that all over again !!Tim Kent "Power for You"
It drove me crazy till I decided on what sounds I would use for certain engines. I finally said enough is enough and settles on one sms for each type of engine. Then I had to decide on what horn I would use for each one. once I did that I have stayed with the program.Kevin Arceneaux It is time for Amtrak to become a fallen flag!
Thank you gentlemen, I will follow your advice. I am attempting to standardize cab and sounds by class. I do have the horns, not knowing they needed aliasing. The first time the megapak was installed, the horns worked fine ( I think, can't really remember, too much Christmas Cheer!) Merry Christmas to you, all the others out here who have helped these past twelve months, and to everyone else, all the best of the season and hope Santa brings you a Raildriver!edit PS What the best approach for the aliasing?
The horns should work right out of the box! We selected a specific horn for each railroad we modeled.... If it is not working then check the horn statements in the sms files you are having problems with... go to common.snd/ge-fdl/alias and check the horn statements in those 8 or 10 sms files... in other words open an sms file in word pad and then search on horn then look at the path specified for the wave file (something like ../../horns/k5la.wav and make sure it is there....the only reason they would not work, assuming you didn't shoot yourself in the foot, is if they have been deleted or you have to many sound streams defined for your system.... Also go into setup for MSTS and make sure your sounds sliders are all the way to the right on max...... since you just re-installed mprofile may have pre-set your sounds to a lower level...Merry Xmas, Chuck Schneider (Virtual) CEO North American (Virtual) Locomotive Works
