After installing Rich Boehringer's External Passenger Car Sounds to several cars I ran Conbuilder which identified a sound file missing.
The sound file rw_wagons_1.wav specified by the file ..\\..\\common.snd\\dzug\\dzug.sms
does not exist in the folder
D:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\TRAIN SIMULATOR\TRAINS\TRAINSET\BD-ORW-PASS\SOUND
The error was found on this line: File ( "rw_wagons_1.wav" -1 )
----------------------------------------I have searched my drives and I don't have a copy of rw_wagons_1.wavAlso checked the download "dzug.zip" to make sure I had copied all the files from it but it ain't there. (In a way I expected to find it there)If any-one can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Graham........Is this a serious secret type thing? Why can't you post the answer or reply here? Everybody that has a simular problem can then get the remedy? Does each one have to email you?
Thanks, BTW............Merry Xmas.
Johan.

RE: External Passenger Car Sounds

I've been waiting in the wings for this one Chuck. I sent a message to the fellow claiming to have it before Christmas but no reply yet.I would settle just to have it described so I might better understand which part it plays in the overall scheme and how I might shop for a substitute. It's a great little wagon sounds package. A keeper.Regards,Mike Apsey

RE: External Passenger Car Sounds

Sorry Ted. I figured that was the case and I used the term "message" rather than "email." I'll have to check to see if there's a way to get notified when there's a message sent that way. I think so.Anyhow, Here's that e-mail address with much thanks in advance for offering to help. I'm excited to hear it.Please remove the spaces: apsey @ tampabay.rr.comRegards,Mike Apsey

RE: External Passenger Car Sounds

It has arrived!Thank you so much Ted, it's a complex and important element of the overall effect! I'm of course willing to assist with the sharing and think it really should be uploaded by the author or with his blessing. I notice that Rich Boehringer uploaded the set with permission from a "Mr. Hibu" in Germany. It's great stuff. Thanks for your help.Regards,Mike Apsey

Yes, there is. At the top of the list of Messages page, you will find "User Menu". Click. Then Click on "Edit your Preference" in the links at left. The sixth option reads......

"Notify via email when you receive a private message?
Select "yes" if you wish to receive an email notification when you receive a private message."

Press the radio button for yes. Save your changes.RegardsYuri.

Hey Yuri we can't seem to be able to get your site up here in the states again... Are you down for maintenance? or has DNS been outlawed in the outback again? LOL!Chuck Schneider

To everyone - I am sorry, I was not aware any files were missing, as they worked okay on my system. I uploaded the files just as Mr Hibu sent them to me with the exception of a bit of translation from German to English. If anyone has the now fuil and corrected version of these sounds, PLEASE upload them here as a fix! I searched and I do not have the missing file either.Rich

RE: External Passenger Car Sounds

RichThe reason they worked on your system is that they DO work in MSTS. MSTS doesn't look for missing sound files. Just loads and goes, not playing the sound when called for.ConBuilder looks for ALL the sound files. That's how I found that one was missing. Since I don't load ANYTHING that doesn't pass ConBuilder, I went and got them, in Germany. If you want a copy of the missing one, give me your email address and I'll get it off to you immediately.Ted

Was it better before?

I installed the missing file (rw_wagons_1.wav) and to my ears (with 4 speaker surround) it sounded better before! With the extra file in place the squeal of brakes is less evident and it sounds like there's a flat wheel on the cars. Test it yourselves by removing and re-adding the file and checking sound with or without. For myself I am leaving rw_wagons_1.wav off.Rich
