On Monday, I was watching some cars being moved around. I heard the air release from the loco and then heard squealing from the cars. Is it possible to modify the .wag files so that when the brakes are applied that the squeal is heard?

Hi,
On the NALW P42's and GE pack the locos have brake squeal sounds when the train brake is applied and you are doing 10 or under.
You can hear it outside of the loco too.
Great sounds in the GE and P42 sets!

Im talking about on the cars of the train...not just the loco...Is it possible to have brake squeal on the cars when brake is applied?

Unfortunately, no. The triggers for the brake squeal sounds(as well as most of the other triggers) only work for engines. You might get the squeal sounds to work by making your passenger cars as engines(with 0 power) instead of wagons, although I haven't tried it. It still might not work, however. The cab car set by NALW has brake squeal sounds when driving from the cab car, but not when driving from the F-40, even though it uses the same .sms file both times. Since NALW set up the cab car as a low power diesel engine due the the helper engine bug problem, it is apparent that a helper engine cannot produce all the sounds that the head engine can, although the results might be different in a consist made up entirely of engines. At least on passenger trains, it's not that noticeable that the squeal only comes from the engine, although I wish I could find a way to make it appear in the passenger view as well. Since none of the brake triggers work in the passenger view, the only possibility is to have the squeal triggered by speed, which would mean it is always on under about 10 m.p.h., which wouldn't be very realistic. Add this to the list of bugs that are hopefully corrected in MSTS2.
