Hi,a question:How can I turn up the volume of horns and whistles? In some .sms-files, the horns are too silent in relation to the volumes of the other sounds. I know I have to edit something in the .sms-files, but I don't know what. If somebody knows, please tell me. Thanks,Mike
There are two approaches you can take to balance the volume of the horns and whistles to the rest of the sounds. You can make the horns/whistles louder, or you can make all the other sounds quieter. If there is a volume statement in the .sms files for the horns/whistles, simply make that number larger. You can use any number between 0.0 and 1.0 to adjust the volume. If there is NOT a volume statement, then you will have to make the .wav file louder by editing it in a sound editor. If no volume statement is present, then the default volume setting (1.0) is used, so it's as loud as it can be. The other approach would be to reduce the volume of the louder sounds by adding/adjusting the volume statement that applies to that/those sounds. Assume for the moment that the air compressor is too loud, add a volume statement like this: Skip ( ** This stream allows the Air Compressor to be played at the same time ** ) Stream ( Priority ( 6 ) Volume ( 0.9 ) Triggers ( 2 Discrete_Trigger ( 12 StartLoopRelease ( 1 File ( "ctaaircomp15.wav" -1 ) SelectionMethod ( SequentialSelection ) ) ) Discrete_Trigger ( 13 ReleaseLoopRelease ( ) ) ) )Adjust the number after the word VOLUME until it's quiet enough to allow the horns/whistles to be heard to your satisfaction. If some other sound is now too loud, you can add a volume statement to that sound, and adjust it down.If you find that you need to make the .wav file (the file that actually makes the horn/whistle sound) louder, then you will need a sound editor to increase the .wav volume. Here's a thread about using a sound editor: http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID11/218.html
