RE: crossings bells

Do you have a sound sample, or can you get one? The ideal recording would be a .wav file, recorded at 11025hz, 16 bit mono. You will then need to trim it so that it loops without a glitch (sounds continuous without pauses). Go get a free copy of Goldwave http://www.goldwave.com/ and open the file, and save the selection as sig_us_a.wav, or whatever the Florida Funnel route uses for a sound source in the crossing.sms file (located in the Sound folder of the route), and replace the existing sig_us_a.wav file with your new one. Re-name the old file, just in case you change your mind.If the above doesn't make any sense to you, get the sound sample, and I'll talk you through it. But you might just as well learn the process (it's not that hard) and then you can make all your own sounds for MSTS.

RE: crossings bells

Here's what I did: I re-sampled it from 8000hz to 11025hz, boosted the volume a bit, and saved it as a 16 bit mono .wav file. Then I re-named sig_us_a.wav, tested it, and zipped it. It's attached below. Place this in your route's Sound folder, re-name the file of the same name that's already there first, in case you change your mind. The sample didn't sound a whole lot different than the one I'm using anyway, which is the default sig_us_a.wav for Marias Pass. So I'm puzzled, why did you need it? Does it have sentimental value? Then I thought that maybe the Florida Funnel uses something else, like maybe one from the Japan routes (sig_japan.wav). You should check the crossing.sms file and see what the name of the bell sound .wav file is. Open the crossing.sms file (in Wordpad), and look for a series of lines like this: Streams ( 2
Stream (
Priority ( 2 )
Triggers ( 2
Discrete_Trigger ( 3
StartLoopRelease ( 1 File
( "sig_us_a.wav" -1 )
SelectionMethod ( RandomSelection ) ) )
Discrete_Trigger ( 4
ReleaseLoopRelease ( ) ) )
)See the line that has the line ( "sig_us_a.wav" -1 ). If your crossing.sms file says anything else here, type in the correct name, save and exit.
