would it be possible to make sounds like of a squeeky wheel, or the sound the cars shuddering when they start moving? I'm sure you can make the car sounds of the wheels and stuff since theres loco sounds, but what about the shuddering? or would that be impossible? I was thinkin like how on a loco the sound changes as throttle increases maybe the same principle for shuddering? You could just make it for one car or something that makes the sound shudder just a bit when the train moves, then at a certain speed (1 mile and hour might do good) it quits kinda like how the sound of the diesels levels off.Just food for thought I just thought it would be nice.

RE: independent car sounds? can they be made?

I direct you to a file in the Train-sim.com library named csmoo.zip. Gavin Mclaughlan made a freight car "MOO", and I guess it could make any of the other sounds that your imagination can come up with.

RE: independent car sounds? can they be made?

There are several files in the library that will do this...1. Clicker.Zip ... groaning-shudder as the train first moves, squealing wheels, rail joint click...very good, can be added to each car as desired 2. Wagsnd2.Zip ... this one has about 6 different sounds that can be added individually to a car...squealing wheels, Wheel flats, Refrigerator car sounds...then pigs, sheep, cows....

RE: independent car sounds? can they be made?

Those sound files you mentioned (clicker and Wagsnd2)...Are they somewhat specific to European 4 wheel wagons, or is it also convincing for 8 wheel/two truck cars? Andre "Coonskin" Ming

RE: independent car sounds? can they be made?

Frankly, I don't know, but I'm well satisfied...try them...they are small files for download and easy to use...Definitely better than nothing and are sounds that would apply to both 4 or 8 wheels I think...I've never heard European.

Okay, thanks.Never hurts to ask before the efforts are expended downloading/installing/putzing to get a hack working right... only to find they're not right for one's application.Andre "Coonskin" Ming

RE: independent car sounds? can they be made?

This is kind of on the same level. When I sit at the yard on weekends while I am waiting for a call I watch the UP crews kicking cars around the yard. Are we able to make such sounds?
Like when the engineer releases the brakes and accelerates rapidly and you can hear 50 or so cars SLAMMING together from the engine to where the switchman is as the slack runs in. Then the engineer imediately hits the brakes and all the slack runs out kicking the
car(s) down the track. Kind of like bang, bang, bang, etc, on and on.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-28-02 AT 11:50 PM (EDT)

Yes they can be made...If you go into your .wag file and go to
"genfreightwag.wag"...you can make new .wav files, name them whatever (pressure.wav) and make unknown amount of copies of genfreightwag3.wag in the Train Simulator/Sounds directory and rename them to your choice for cars...ex:(ConrailCoal110.wag)for your coal car...place the .wav files in the Train Simulator/Sounds directory...then go into the "ConrailCoal110.wag" and mod the .wav files in there to your sound files names...when done it should work but Im not positive...It worked for me...so good luck...
=)
(btw...I live near a Norfolk Southern yard and hear the crashing of cars and banging all the time)
