I'm working on sound for Matt's PCC.For now, Matt has implemented the Acela cab. I've modified some of it to include a PCC bell I have sampled. I also have some excellent PCC running sound, captured from inside a car while running. However, I can't seem to find where this is controlled. The sounds come from another .sms file, similar to "japantrack0in.sms" which isn't referenced in acelacab.sms, or acelaeng.sms. That file, and similar ones as well as the referenced .WAV files, are in another Sound Folder, higher up in the MSTS hierarchy. Is this something that is referenced while the .ACE file(s) are created? In which case it's sort of compiled in a sense, and then not available for modification unless one has the source file.Does anyone have any more information on controlling, if possible, these track sounds, heard in the cab when the train is running? Thanks in advance, for any replies!Norm

RE: Working with Track/Running Sounds (well, trying to!

I'm forgetting things I already learned...This deals more with the route, and not the specific engine running on it.I'm on my way to answering my own dumb question again.Sorry for the thread!Norm

The track sounds are controlled by the ttype.dat file in each route's root folder. The file specifies which SMS file to use for each sound region. The ACE files have nothing to do with sound. They are only textures. And if you know what you're doing, you CAN edit them after they're created.
