Just wondering if it's possible to make a trigger for a detector to announce? I found a lot of wav. files for numerous railroad detectors, and i thought it would be cool to use them. Adds more realism. Thanx (Wp713)
I'm not sure a trigger would work. I don't think you (meaning MSTS) can activate a trigger based on location. However, you could consider making a Sound Source, and if it's short enough, you probably won't hear the fade in/out of sound as you approach/leave the Sound Source's position.
I don't think that it can be done, I think that MSTS is really lacking in the SOUND area. If we knew what could be done, we might be able to improve MSTS grately.
In the UK route, a semaphore signal changing state triggers a one shot sound. I wonder if you could do the same with a color light? Then if you could make that sound be heard in the cab..Just a thought.Realy though you want the right detectors for the milepost you are passing. The SMS file can be made to trigger dependant on distance, so the fade in on the sound should not be a problem, and it can be made to repeat only once.Andy K
The real problem lies in playing the rear-end message. Some detectors don't even broadcast head-end messages, so you're left with just the rear-end transmission. If you can't get that to play, there's effectively no detector.
