Adding A Door Sound?

Hi there,
When I take the train on my local commuter line, I always hear the distinctive beeping and clunk of the doors on the 465 I travel on before we pull away, does anyone know if its possible to add such a sound to the trains in MSTS?James

Hi,Adding that sound is very easy. (I think, I haven't tried it because the sound on my PC is stuffed) You record the sound you want for it or get it from somewhere, and replace the whistle sound when you 'perrmision to procede' with the sound that you want.

Can someone help me find the file? I know its the depart_japan_buzz that i need to replace, but which sms file is it referenced in? And will the sound work in an English route?James

Suppose the file is called 465_door_close.wav Is that what you mean? Thanks for doing this, its a distinctive sound that adds to the whole realism thing!James

What is the filename for the sound used for Amtrak trains (OK to proceed)? I'd like to change this to something better ("Please stand clear of the doors" or something like that that I can record myself).Dave

The only way is to Edit (with Wordpad) the ingame.sms File of the Route which you want to change (the File can be found in each Sound Folder of any Route).
Look for the Line which starts with Discrete Trigger (60
Maybe it looks like: Discrete_Trigger ( 60 PlayOneShot ( 1 File ( "s_perm_03.wav" -1 ) SelectionMethod ( RandomSelection ) ) )Change the Name of the Wav File into yourwav.wav
Now you can read: Discrete_Trigger ( 60 PlayOneShot ( 1 File ( "yourwav.wav" -1 ) SelectionMethod ( RandomSelection ) ) )That´s it. Don´t forget to save your ingame.sms now.
Now you can hear your wav file (for any train) instead of Ready to proceedUMUK

Hi,I had that worked out (I really did) and was about to post, but was looking to see if there was a way just to do the train. But there is none from what I can find out.If you want, I'll send you out the default routes ready to use with your new sound, just e-mail me at tulloch_cars@hotmail.com you will need to tell me what routes you want done, and what the name of the sound files is.Regards,Ben

The other option would be to place the door / buzzer sound on the 'b' bell button.
Then you can press 'b' just before you want to leave, and it would be different for each train.(Obviously not work well for locos that actually use the bell, but great for UK stuff)
