No......it's not a joke...(I don't want to Change Cab View into View from Cab!!!)But I could use a bit of help....I have a GP-7cabview download from the library, that I am hooking up to a number of engines through Common Cab folder.Problem is it has the view looking out the short hood end, when I would like a few engines to have it looking out the long hood end instead. (the hood itself doesn't appear in the #1 view so I don't have to worry about changing engine graphics there)What numbers and by how much do I have to hack in the CVF (I assume??)line about the direction or Window view to face the engine with the long hood forward???Thanks for the help.Doug

Changing View from Cab – image 1

well, the cabview is just an overlay of a view of the tracks. you problem is a tough one. You'd have to create a whole new GP9-Front1024.ace file with the long hood in it, which is a daunting task to say the least.-Dave

RE: Changing View from Cab

Dear NERF:Not interested in the long hood itself, the short hood doesn't show in the view out the front anyway on the one I have ...what I am aiming for is a view which is 180 degrees around (turning engine so the view is from the long hood) from what it is now, so the forward end of the engine will be LH, not the SH.Just interested to know which files I can hack to get the view direction changed.Doug

RE: Changing View from Cab

Hello Doug!To run long hood forward, take your favorite GP-9 (or whatever) and save into another folder. Open Shape File Manager, and reverse the shape file. Save and close. Open the .eng file, and scroll down to the HeadOut. Add a - in front of the lenght parameter, and a - in front of the width parameter. This will move your HeadOut to the proper location. Do the same with the .cvf file and the cabviews.Hope this helps. May take a little tinkering to get just right.Bob

RE: Changing View from Cab

Aren't there any LHF cabs in the library? If not look for a GP or SD that runs LHF and has its own cabview. Then just move the cabview to common.cab folder.JohnCYNDI RICHARDS

RE: Changing View from Cab

Look for ERIE GP7 #1400 in the file library, it has a long hood forward view ! Also, Dekosoft has some nice LHF views on some of their 2nd generation NS units. Ron K of Rockford

RE: Changing View from Cab

Thanks for all the help guys but I'm still not getting anywhere. The ERIE 1400 is good as it's a long hood forward ENGINE, but putting a cab view from that engine into the one I have still looks out the short hood end as being forward. The unit is also one that requires parts from a DEKOSOFT payware model. I tried with a CV GP-9 from our file library and came up with the same result.VWS Bob's idea is probably what has to be done, though I don't know how to reverse the shape file????I opened up one for the CV engine that has a long hood forward, and of course the ace files specified are different so I cranked in the ace files for the PC engine I have and when I loaded the engine, I had an x-ray vision locomotive with blobs and blotches over it that looked like it had melted, so I wasn't in the ball park with matching the ace files to where they belong on the engine shape.Any help on how exactly to alter which lines to reverse the shape file??Thanks
Doug

Well..................DUAH............I finally got it..............as the picture below shows.....It's not a matter of putting a long hood CVF file into an engine, but as CWVS Bob started to suggest......reversing the shape file to make the engine go the way you want it.Using Shape Filke Manager after uncompressing the S file, an option becomes valid to "reverse" and this is what I needed. It also creates a file named "presized" which I assume is useless junk, as I put the recompressed S file back in and got the required result. It's very easy................of course if you know what you're looking for. Thanks for all the suggestions
DougThe Crew is finally happy, can go on with their work, and I DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN to the $#@%&*"ing UNION.
