Have you either/or renamed the .cvf file and changed it in your train's .eng file?-Yeah, that's right! The Raider Marching Pride!!! -You can never have too much inner beauty. Or socks.

RE: cab problems

Make sure that your cvf is the correct name, and make sure the eng file has the same .cvf for the cabview. If I'm thinking your problem is what it sounds you have a cvf named incorecctly, or it doesn't match the cabview the eng file is trying to read *in other words the .cvf is mispelled either in the eng. file, or in the cabview folder* Make sure you check them, if that doesn't correct your problem then come back here and chew me out for wasting your time

RE: cab problems

This is really making me MAD! In my Santa Fe FP-45 cabview folder, it reads FP45_SF1.cvf. My engine file FP45_SF1.eng. They're the same. Someone care to explain why it still doesn't work? Sorry if that sounds rude. This is really frustraiting.

If I offend you by getting VERY basic, I apoligize, but here goes. By your just joining here, I assume you're very new, and don't understand cabviews. (If you do, then maybe this will help others)A Cabview file (****.cvf) is a text file that tells the sim ALL of the other files that are needed to make a working cab. It tells the location of the file as well as the exact placement of each graphic within the cab view. That's right..., each needle, moving handle (throttle, brake etc)had their own graphic file that must be in the "right place" (folder) that the cvf file refers to. On the default engines all the graphic files are in the CABVIEW folder of that particular engine. Here is a sample of a default cvf file.SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0h0t______Tr_CabViewFile (
CabViewType ( 2 )
CabViewFile ( GP38Frnt.ace )
CabViewWindow ( 43 0 597 412 )
CabViewWindowFile ( AcWndFrn.ace )

Direction ( 10 0 0 )
CabViewFile ( GP38Left.ace )
CabViewWindow ( 0 0 640 301 )
CabViewWindowFile ( AcWndLft.ace )

CabViewFile ( GP38Right.ace )
CabViewWindow ( 20 0 589 430 )

CONTINUEDNotice the line below
CabViewFile ( GP38Frnt.ace )
If you have JUST the graphic file name in between the parenthesis, then that graphic file MUST be in the cabview folder of the particular engine.What a lot of people do however is to put all the cabview graphic files in a COMMON Cabview folder elsewhere. Then they edit the ***.cvf file to point to that other location. Here is an example of it. Dial (
Type ( SPEEDOMETER DIAL )
Position ( 253 54 32 32 )
Graphic ( ../../GP38_common/cabview/needle32.ace )
Style ( NEEDLE )
ScaleRange ( 0 90 )
ScalePos ( 215 120 )
Units ( MILES_PER_HOUR )
Pivot ( 24 )
DirIncrease ( 0 )
)
Dial (
Type ( MAIN_RES DIAL )
Position ( 96 314 32 32 )
Graphic ( ../../GP38_common/cabview/needlr32.ace )
Style ( NEEDLE )
ScaleRange ( 0 160 )
ScalePos ( 225 125 )
Units ( PSI )
Pivot ( 23 )
DirIncrease ( 0 )
)
TriState (
Type ( DIRECTION TRI_STATE )
Position ( 259 369 76 43 )
Graphic ( ../../GP38_common/cabview/rev.ace )
NumFrames ( 3 3 1 )
Style ( NONE )
MouseControl ( 1 )
Orientation ( 0 )
DirIncrease ( 1 )
)
Notice on the line below
Graphic ( ../../GP38_common/cabview/rev.ace )../../GP38_common/cabview/ tells the sim to look in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\TRAINS\TRAINSET\GP38_common\Cabview
for all those files
So besides making sure that your ***.cvf file is in the Cabview folder, and making sure that your name of your cvf file is correct in your ***.eng file, you need to look at the cvf file and see where it is telling the sim to look for All Those Other Graphic Files.Hopefully someone else will step in here and help you out too. So now that you know that a cabview is comprised of a bunch of files put together, you should search for keyword "Aliasing" here on the message board to further understand how to put those files in one common place and use the same cabview on more that one locomotive.Kyle
