Hmmm. I don't think it will, at least, all engines you start with are already on, so I don't see why there needs to be an "engine start sound." I don't know if anyone can alter the pantograph button, because MSTS is programmed to only use the pantograph button to raise/lower the pantograph, and nothing more (correct me if I'm wrong, anybody.)MTA Going your way for 100 years. 1904-2004

Just curious .... why would you want to? On a real locomotive, if you start it cold, particularly on the newer computer controlled ones, it will be as long as half an hour before you can "load" it anyway. Takes a while to get 50,000 lbs of engine and a thousand gallons of water and oil up to temperature. Not like your car where you turn the key and boogey.krswen

I like this humming sound when oil pump works before engine actually startsIn our cold country diesels run on idle all day in winter months to prevent freezing of cooling water so there is no need to start it

Now that I think about it, there is an exception to what I said earlier ..... locomotives with AESS do shut down after a period of inactivity if certain conditions are met. As the fliud temperatures cool to a certain level they restart automatically, or every two hours regardless. It can surprise people nearby so they typically have warning decals on the locomotive. Also, if you have one behind you in a consist that has "gone to sleep" just moving your reverser will initiate the startup sequence so you don't have to walk back and manually restart. Give it a minute to come up though before you slam everything into N8.krswen

There is a Class 08(I think) sound set at UKTS, where you press "B"(bell) you get the engine starting sound, and you press it again, you get the engine stopping sound.
-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!----- Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it. Eh, where did my signature go? Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it. Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)! It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet. Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...
