throttle images?Here's why I ask: I've been converting my .eng files to the more realistic tractive effort sequence: .044 .11 .23 .34 .50 .65 .81 1.00. When I do this, the throttle lever and displayed notch generally don't progress correctly any more.On the Dash 9, this sequence: 0. .095 .185 .25 .34 .385 .445 .478 .5 .555 .611 .666 .73 .777 .888 .944 .999
for SwitchVal in the CPH_DISPLAY results in proper notches being displayed in the engineer's "operating display": However, not all eight throttle lever images are correctly displayed (no motion in N2 and it looks like N7 gets skipped over).I set the same power levels in the 3DTS SD70 and used the same revised throttle values in the .cvf and the results are terrible ..... no motion in N1 and N2 and N3 and N7 get skipped. I tried plotting a curve of power vs image and have not come up with a sequence that works. The help file for the cab editor is, of course, useless.Anybody unraveled the mystery of synchronizing the 18 images with intended throttle movement?BTW, the default Dash 9 with evenly spaced power settings does display all 8 throttle images ..... the default 3DTS with evenly spaced power settings does not ... it skips over N5.krswen

RE: Has anybody figured out the goofy logic for ......

I thought I was the only one for adjust the power curve. Nice to have company, and it's really slick during switching. The bad news: I use the same values you do, and get good results. Accurate in the Dash9, and all but the movement from N7 to N8 show correctly in the SD70. Dumb question, perhaps, but did you change the values in the eng and cvf files for the engine you are using? (3DTS sometimes has many eng files for the same model, and it is at time confusing to figure out which one is used.) Check your cvf file to be sure you haven't misplaced a decimal point, and be sure it is 0.044 (not 0.44) in the eng file.fwbryan

Go figure ...... I retried using the Dash 9 progression and last night it worked just fine (except for the skipped N7-8 that we've both noticed).Quirky, this simulator!krswen

Here's a cut and paste from the dash 9 .cvf file which will correctly display the notch number with the revised throttle settings: MultiStateDisplay (

)As you'll note the first part has to do with displaying the notch number and since this is a combined control full dynamics are 1.0, idle is 0.5 and run 8 is 0.0. Calculating the values in between is a little tricky. For example, I used 81% for run 7. The value that goes in the SwitchVal field for run 7 would be (1.00-0.81)/2 or 0.095. Likewise, run 6 is 65%, so the following value is (1.00-0.65)/2 or 0.175, and so forth. Sometimes you need to adjust the calculated value by a bit to get the notch indicator to display properly which is why this value is 0.185 instead of the 0.175 that I just calculated. Any SwitchVal field above 0.5 is unchanged since this is the dynamic brake display. BTW, the values I'm using for the revised throttle settings were straight from Al Krug's website(0 4.4 11 23 34 50 65 81 100)The numbers for the CP_HANDLE COMBINED_CONTROL are unchanged from the default values since the lever seems to respond normally despite the altered throttle settings. If necessary these can be adjusted in a similar manner to the notch indicator display.
