I recently downloaded a Norfolk Southern GP50 from the file library and installed it according to the readme. The loco works fine and looks great on the East River Route. But it has a screwed up cabview. There are just a few traces of levers and instruments scattered about the screen with a big blank view ahead. I have followed the advice of Kevarc and read his instructions at 3D Trains Forum. But I think I'm just screwing things up worse. I put in the command string as listed but the end result is the same. What have I done wrong here? I know someone has a solution to this problem because it is affecting more than just this loco. Every loco that uses a GP38 cabview is wacky. I should also mention that my default GP38 uses a modified cabview from the SD40-2 update pack off of MSTS's website. If this is causing the problem does anyone have a clue how to fix it? Short of uninstalling MSTS ( NOT AN OPTION, TOO MUCH ADDED ON ALREADY), I am pulling my hair out trying to make this work. If anyone can help me out of this fix that is of my own doing please be kind and drop a response. Just to remind that I am very unfamiliar with this aliasing and modding stuff so be kind to this dummy please.

Cheers,
RobWhite

RE: Big problems with my cabviews!!!!!

NS GP50, you mean 7011? I use the high nose cabview for more realism. You can download it here (hinose.zip). It is pretty cool. If you have a troublesome cabview (i.e. gauges suspended in Mid-air), replace it with a different one.

RE: Big problems with my cabviews!!!!!

That could be the problem. with the other files from the SD40-2. You need to edit the cvf file so that the ace files match what is in the GP38 cabview folder. I used Dekos NS cabview for mine.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Big problems with my cabviews!!!!!

Rob,
I downloaded the NS GP-50 the other day and decided to alias the cabview to "NS_1367", a high hood GP-40 that appeared in the library back in July under a file called "NS Slugs", I believe. The cabview is great for running short hood forward. This unit also has a great N&W sound horn. I had no problems with it so far.
