I've been playing around with cabviews and I've revised this view. I would love your opinions on the look.I raised the Control Stand above the bottom of the middle window. This is how I've seen shots of cabs from pictures. This also eliminated the need for a hood shot.I've grayed the console and cleaned the cab a bit for a cleaner look and made the lower rail not in view.shots of the SD40-2 (Highnose) had the same control stand but not the middle window. I think i'll use this cab and black out the window and add the nose from the outside window. What do you think?Do any of you think I need to add a nose shot from the side vertical window?I don't have the right and left views as of yet, I just wanted opinions before I continued. RE: Your opinion on this SD40-2 Cab View

Thanks for the reply. Your right I thought something was wrong. I've had a devil of a time trying to figure out those position settings. I'll raise it up and I think I'll try and put in part of the nose peice.I think I may put the front hand rail back in. Some Locos appear to have the front rail very low. I didn't know if it is visible to the engineer. Thanks again.
I'll report the update.
David

David, I like it! Best view I've seen and still have all the controls handy. As was said above, view could be raised a bit .. but it's still a good one imhoRobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

Put the front handrail back.I think that'll look better.Besides that's what you see when you look out that window anyway. The cabview looking out does need to be raised.Looks like you're a foot or two off the rail.Overall it's a nice looking cab.Kro52 could you do that darkened cab without the snow texture? Maybe some other liveries too.

Do you have a cab with the dynamic brake handle showing?

RE: Your opinion on this SD40-2 Cab View

My question is how can duplicate this cabview in my own SD40-2. I like the look you have captured here. It gives very clear definition to the working environment. I like authenticity in a cabview and you have definately captured it here.

Cheers,
RobWhite

Okay see if this is better. I've been working on FBL livery and would use the cab view for this loco.Your opinion on this SD40-2 Cab View – image 5Your opinion on this SD40-2 Cab View – image 6

Man that looks real good.No doubt about it.Instead of the button for the horn I'd try the handle version.May look better for that cab era.

RE: Your opinion on this SD40-2 Cab View

Not sure if you mean dakridge(David)or me KRO52. As for my GP38-2 cabs they lack Dynamic brake controls as they were done for the LIRR and New York & Atlantic Railway ( ex LIRR locos) which never had DB.

RE: Your opinion on this SD40-2 Cab View

Dakridge, the cabview is clear and precise. Now as someone mentioned a left and right view and possible but not needed an engineers rear view.
For your view maybe add a clock below the Qtron if thats the right position and noses for SP,UP,BN.BNSF,NS,CSX,COnrail the list could be endless but good work.

Thanks Dale, I'm going to get started on the left and right views tomorrow. I would love to create several other noses and maybe post them in a package. I'm not sure I know what you mean by Qtron? but I can add a clock. Thanks again.

RE: Your opinion on this SD40-2 Cab View

There was a cabview posted here that didn't have the dynamic brake handle feature because of the loco not having dynamic brakes.
