I am using a cabview for the OR&W RS3 ( from Ohio Rail ), and the display at the bottom of the screen is missing for the brakes. This appears to be a known issue with the author. The lines about brake controls usually in a .cvf file are not in this one since there are no brake levers in the cabview ( they would be off to the left of the viewing position since this is a long hood forward version, and wouldn't be in the field of view of a "real" engineer ). This cabview also came with a "modified" engine file to use as well. Just curious if anyone knows where the "missing" display is generated, in the .cvf or in the .eng file. If it is in the .cvf, can the sections be inserted using a graphic of (""), since there are no brake levers to display? Thanks for any help.

You may want to check with the guy from NALW (can't think of who it is at the moment) or Chip from Dekosoft as they have built cabviews.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Missing Display of Throttle, Brake, etc.

Very late reply I know, but it may help.Yes you can include new controls that will put the 'tell-tale' at the bottom of the screen. In cabs that I've made, any control not incuded in the cabview (mostly wiper or sander switches) I can add last of all with no ace file graphic. I'd usually place it in an uncluttered part of the view also so that it does not interfere with any real controls. For example: TwoState (
Type ( SANDERS TWO_STATE )
Position ( 0 0 32 32 )
NumFrames ( 0 0 0 )
Style ( ONOFF )
MouseControl ( 1 )
)
TwoState (
Type ( RESET TWO_STATE )
Position ( 90 1 32 32 )
NumFrames ( 0 0 0 )
Style ( ONOFF )
MouseControl ( 1 )
)The above is an example from my Falcon/Class 47 cabview available at uktrainsim which shows the sander and reset switches which aren't seen from the normal point of view can be incorporated into the cvf file.When the sander is switched on or off from the keyboard or RailDriver console, the tell-tale is displayed at the bottom of the screen. And the same is true for any other control added.It is easily achieved from within the CE by just adding the control and not assigning a graphic or animation count and then dragging the square from the top left corner to wherever you want it placed.If you do it by adding lines to the cvf manually, remember to adjust the total number of controls in the cvf file to take account of the fact.
