RE: RS3 Cab Alias

Hello Jerry,
I did the LIRR repaints and cabview. I'm not sure what you want to do. You should be able to alias the view with no problem. I did put a texture repair in the library for LIRR #1551. It added the correct texure for lower resolution viewing, something I forgot when I released the original. KRO52

RE: RS3 Cab Alias

When I alias other Rs3s to the LIRR cab, I always get the LIRR paint scheme on the visible hood. How do I get the proper painted hood looking out the forward window? Great cabview by-the way. Thanks' Jerry

Thats what I thought- started repainting a NH Rs2 to an orange hood using PhotoShop Elements 2. ::Another whole learning experience -oh well That's what life is all about Thanks for your help. If you ever get bored & need a project- I've not seen a good High Hood U-Boat Cab.--You did such a great job c the RS3

RE: RS3 Cab Alias

Thanks Jerry,
I use PSP7 and I too know what you mean, I'm a newbie to all paint programs and just learning them is a trip, but it's worth it. The way I do my cab window front view is like this:
1)I adjust my head out view to bring it inboard(inside the cab), until I get the view I want.
2)I than take a screenshot of the new view.
3)Open the screenshot in your paint program
4)Cut out the hood shape and save it.
5)Open your TGATOOL and open the front view .ace file, send it to your paint program.
6)Reopen the cut out hood shot
7)cut and paste it into your xxxfront .ace texture, some tweeking is needed to make it fit just right.
8)You will need to transfer the .ace to the ALPHA channel to mask out the new hood area's.
9)Save the new alpha and the new xxxfront.ace and reload them back into the TGATOOL.

I know it seems like a lot of work, but it's not bad. The advantage of using the screenshot method is that you get the exact view of all the lettering and details on the hood, no need to play with lettering streching and perspective stuff, thats a pain for artistic challenged people like me. Good luck and thanks again.

RE: RS3 Cab Alias

Hey Jerry,
Go into your engine file (xxx.eng), about 75% down the page you'll see these lines: CabView ( rs3.cvf )
HeadOut ( 1.682 3.23 -3.32 )
"X" "Y" "Z"----- Axis positionsThe headout line is the one you will work with. Measurements are expressed in meters. X= position left to right, Y= up and down, Z=front to back. X is determined from the center line of the cab, moving in the positive moves view to the right or outboard, conversly moving towards the negative moves the view to the left or inboard. As note when you move past the center line (zero) the numbers will be expressed as a negative number. Changing the X position should put you where you want. Remember to make a copy of your original .eng file before changing the parameters. The advantage of this method is that you will see the exact hood you are using not the donor cabview. Hope this helps, again it works for me. KRO52
