Does anyone know of a way to trigger the alerter based on the next signal rather than a specified time limit?

On Union Pacific steam locomotives, it is both timed and cab-signal actuated.

Nope, sometimes you see them on freights, but they are daily used in passenger service and on some freights.

Now when did you see all this steam action on the UP? It had to be an excursion run.The UP isn't using steam on it's rail to haul anything in this day and time.I'm in my 40s and steam was gone when I came along. So what life time were you born?

Daily excursion, all year, 1991, once on freight. Drove the old 844.
