UP-style SD70M cab – image 2

That would be hard as you cannot animate frames over another animation, the guages on the right would be very hard to get in there (working anyways) with the brake contrloller animation in front of it..I agree though, its a cool cab Best regards,

RE: UP-style SD70M cab

And if I understand correctly it'd actually be more correct for the SD70Ms in Cajon/Tehachapi Pass than the cab that is in there now?
(to my knowledge only the last couple of hundred of UP's SD70Ms have the digital cabs...)BTW - what sort of cabs do the SP SD70Ms have? Analog (like this one) or digital?

RE: UP-style SD70M cab

They switched to the digital cabs at the same time as the flared radiators, I think? So at least the first three hundred or so UP SD70Ms should have analog cabs...
What style of cabs did the SP SD70Ms have?

RE: UP-style SD70M cab

nope I can dispel that rumor quite quickly
Recent photos I have of the SD70M's show that they have the analog cabs and not the digital
Where did you get this from?

RE: UP-style SD70M cab

I know that the SD70Ms were originally specifically ordered from EMD by UP with old-style analog instruments. However, I read somewhere that the most recent locos, the ones with flared radiators and the new sort of electronics (FIRE diagnostics tools or whaddafuckever they're called) have the 'normal' digital cab.. Also, the ex-SP SD70Ms apparently have digital cabs...

RE: UP-style SD70M cab

I like that word. But the recent UP SD70M's with the flared nostrils do not have digital cabs. I don't want ot start a holy war over which is better analog or digital, but I can send you the picture. What road numbers are they and I'll research it for you pending the time I have in between other projects. BNSF Detector Milepost 666.

RE: UP-style SD70M cab

Oh..
OK..
I was wrong then..
That leaves the ex-SP SD70Ms as the only UP SD70Ms possibly having digital instruments - SP roadnumbers 9800-9824 unfortunately I do not know what UP renumbered them to
