Does anyone know what instruments on the CRTs of an AC4400 cab are different from those on a Dash 9 cab? I was just thinking that the the default Dash 9 cab (or better yet, NALW's upgrade to that cab) could be modified to accurately portray AC4400 instruments.Jonathan Nikiforovs.

I'll see if I can sneak into the simulator at school and grab a couple of pictures. No guarantees, it's been pretty busy recently.- Andrew

RE: AC4400 cab instrumentation.

Biggest difference that I am aware of is that the AC4400 like other AC engines does not have an Ammeter like the DC units...
Instead it displays Tractive Effort if I recall correctly...
In any event will know for sure as soon as Andrew can sneak into the simulator...Chuck Schneider

Chris, I was referring to the digital instruments that appear on the CRTs. I have seen your pictures, but look the link below, showing the cab interior of a Dash 9 loco. As you can see, it is virtually identical to an AC4400 cab.
In both these shots and your own, the CRTs are off, so that doesn't answer my question.http://www.qstation.org/bnsfdash9h1/html/bnsf983a.htmBTW the reason the Dash 9 cab appears the way it does in MSTS is because of the difficulty of projecting a diagonal instrument screen in a 2D picture, so Kuju had to thake some liscence in making the cab appear somewhat different than te real one, for the purpose that it would function properly in the sim. The dash 9 cab there could be used as the template for an A4400 cab.Jonathan Nikiforovs.

If you scroll about halfway down on the link I provided above, you can see what a CP AC4400 CRT screen looks like.Jordan

RE: AC4400 cab instrumentation.

I'm not sure, but they are the same for both sides. However, the engineer has two screens so he can keep track of more things, or at least that is the story that I get from engineers that I know who have been recently promoted. By the way, uhhhhhhhh, I know I have made some people use some bad words about me with some questions I asked and I know I was critiquing some NALW stuff and asking tooo much, but I think NALW rules!!!
