I'm creating an F-7 cab for the schief.zip and the funitcab.zip is not anywhere as good and realistic as the real locomotive. If I go on a real locomotive and take pictures with all of the controls removed and then take a picture of each of the controls in a position, can I put them together amd make alpha channels and go into the cab editor to make the view? If my method works, I will post it in the train-sim.com file library. Also, if I want the controls to not be too big or too small, what size do I make the image so the controls fit in their place? And how do you make a needle and its alpha? If anyone could answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

Kyle Penn Wrote:>or u could always go and buy 3Dtrains Pro series >locos...cabviews are great ===================================================I'm not going to buy a locomotive for my sim. Real photos are more realistic. 3Dtrains aren't nearly as good as sitting in the locomotive!

Absolutely. >Also, if I want the controls to not be too big or too small, what >size do I make the image so the controls fit in their place? It depends. The controls are going to be different sizes, in real life and in the game, so you're going to have to fiddle around with the size values. One size doesn't fit all. As for the background image, try for 1024x768.>And how do you make a needle and its alpha? Copy the needle.ace file for the Dash 9 into your cabview folder. Go into TGATool and create your own needle with your paint program. Then save it, open up the alpha, copy and paste the needle in there, make the transparent parts black and the solid parts white, then save and export. -- Mike Karlik -- -- "Power for you" --

It was originaly an Australian cab but Bill flipped it for the US. Its probbably one of the most realistic cabs out there!!! Adam
