I have gone ahead and painted a few locomotives. However I cannot get sounds inside the cab (within view #1 in the sim). How do I make the sounds (like the horn) be heard from within the cab? Thanks,
If your hearing sounds when outside the cab, views (2,3,4) your halfway there. It is in the *.ENG file. The locomotive has two sound files it draws it's sounds from an Interior sound and an Exterior sound. In the main locomotive folder you'll find a folder called Sound in that folder are all the sounds with two 'SMS' files. These files tell MSTS what to do with the various sounds. One file will have the name of the LNeng.sms and the other LNcab.sms. These files with the sounds are linked in the ENG file of the locomotive folder.I know this may sound a bit confusing (it did to me at first). Anyway in the ENG file you will find the lines that link these sound files to the loco. The first word in the line is Sound. You have to point the ENG files sound direction to the folder that the sounds are located in. I'm assuming you have not aliased any loco's before so now is a good time to start. You have a working loco of the same type with all the sounds working. Most likely the original engine you had before the repaint. Get a program called ConBuilder. It is available here at TS.Com. With that program you can Alias somewhat automatically. Click on program and under that you will see Alias's Click that it will go through and find all your loco's. Select the loco with the working sounds on the bottom window and then alias that to the loco without the sounds in the window on the right. You can also alias the cab at the same time if you wish.If you wish to do this manually you will find directions in the MSTS FAQ on the front page of TS.com. It is in the making your own loco's area of the FAQ. Near the bottom.<http://www.train-sim.com/faq/msts/contents.htm>Hope that helps.Ronson
