SD90 Cab – image 1

Here are a few pictures of what I've been working on. It is an SD90MAC cab which could also probably be used as an SD80MAC one too.FrontSD90 Cab – image 2LeftSD90 Cab – image 3Back (Right)SD90 Cab – image 4The pictures which I've been working from came off of this site http://home.hetnet.nl/~canadianpacific/Motive%20Power%20Page.htm and Al Krug's site, as well as the picture pack uploaded to the file library by Rob Eull. Please excuse the blue streaks around the windows as I'm still "trimming" the alpha channel. The FIRE display (or a similar facsimile thereof) is not finished yet. I may have to rethink it because of the size of the brake gauge number fonts, but other than that, what do you think?

Nice job! I don't know how difficult it would be to remove it, but I believe the hotplate and pot corral (in the second image) are only sold to CN and CP (and some Australian roads).krswen

Thanks guys. Yeah, only the Canadian Railroads have the hotplates on the conductor's desk. I hope to make another left view that has the desk like this for the UP SD90MAC.SD90 Cab – image 14The screenshots were taken on Raton Pass.

All right, well, I've done some work, changed the AC4400CW back view to an SD90MAC, added a non-CP left view (courtesy of Al Krug) and added some controls and displays and whatnot.CPSD90 Cab – image 23SD90 Cab – image 24SD90 Cab – image 25Non-CPSD90 Cab – image 26SD90 Cab – image 27SD90 Cab – image 28It should be ready soon.

RE: SD90 Cab

For the train and engine brake controls why not use one that shows the whole module? The one that you have now is not in scale with the rest of the controls.Looks funny. You have a very large braing module and a very small engine control module.that's all that i see that could be changed.Overall it's an excellent cabview.

No, not me, I may do some night modifying though . Last I heard Sam Spade of NALW still has the EMD cab package in the works though. It will be worth the wait, as is all of his/their works. On a side note, I did fool around with CSX_7327 to see what it would look like with orange guages instead of green. The screenshot doesn't do it justice though. Later Kyle

woah. that pic of the SD70MAC cab.. he is loading REAL good if he is pulling that many amps in Run 4 (if i read that right) probably not, so i'm guessing he is in Run 8 with a coal train..

RE: SD90 Cab

If he's pulling that many amps in run four then he has a problem.he's gonna break a knuckle real soon. But then look at his speed.53mph.He's chugging right along with a heavy load.

SD90 Cab – image 44

If you look closely, that is 5.3. If I had to guess, which I totally am, I'd say he is on an uphill grade, pulling a heavy load, and needed the high amperage to keep the train moving. Looking below the 5.3 indication you can see a 4. Who knows what that is? Is it a digital accelerometer or the throttle notch indication? I would say notch 4, putting out those kinds of amps, at that speed isn't too out of place.Regards,

They bounce around a lot, but after a bit you can figure out which way your speed is going and how much you are gaining/losing.Judging by his hand postition, I would say he has her in 8.Todd

Hey Kyle, I don't know if you will get this or not...but the IC uses a BIG RED speedo on most of its units. You can see them forever OUTSIDE the unit!@!!I would LOVE to have the "night vision" cabs!!!

Andrew,Oh, yes, I almost forgot. Thanks for the diagrams! They were indeed very helpful.Rob,I would love to take a look at your AC4400CW pictures.Claude,Yeah, I know. Actually, the reverser/throttle plate and controls are from the default Dash 9 and are really too small. I was thinking about how to fit the independent in there. I might be able to work it out.Kyle,Thanks for the picture.

A comment on the wipers if I may.........If they operate at the same time (do they?) they will bump into each other. Perhaps the single wiper on the right needs to be placed to the left. It's a great looking cab for sure!

I'm not sure how they work exactly, but that is indeed how the windshield wipers are laid out on the SD90. Take a look at this picture which I have gotten off the site mentioned in the original post. I have circled the wipers in green (as well as do some other things...). That is what the wipers look like.SD90 Cab – image 90Oh, and Rob, am I still okay to use your picture for the left view in the CP cab?

I like the looks of your cab, there! I had the good luck to be offered a cab ride in an SD90MAC, and sure enough I got some pictures. You can see them at http://pages.sbcglobal.net/msts-ic/pages/SD90MACtour.html .Email me if you want to use any of them--I'm thinking the close up of the control desk might be of use to you. . .

Thanks for the pictures Troub, but I just uploaded the cab a little while ago. But actually, your pictures confirmed that what I had been making for the cab was correct, as I only had a few pictures to work from and I kinda had to improvise. But it looks right and so that's good.To everyone: The cab has been uploaded. The only thing I changed was adding an independent brake lever at the extreme right of the cab and added a digital load meter readout.SD90 Cab – image 100Look for 'em.SD90 Cab – image 101SD90 Cab – image 102
