HiI've downloaded the German Kittel steam engine. Beautiful machine (in an ugly way). The only thing I see as a problem, when you select the engine in the Sim, when it loads (perfectly), the initial view isn't to the front. It's to the right. When you hit the left arrow, it looks left (correctly). Hitting the right arrow once brings you to the right view again, hitting it again brings it to the FRONT.Since this is a steam engine with the controls on the right side, the creater might have wanted the initial view to be RIGHT, of the controls. Changing the ACE files just changes the window frames, still showing the right outside first. Each view (left, front and right) is complete and correct, both as to the inside cabview and the world passing by outside.I've looked at the GP38 cabview file and can't see how this is different. What indicates which is the initial-view-direction-window in a cabview file? Thanks
Ted

RE: Initial Cabview Direction. How to change it?

Ted,I have just installed the Kittel and you need to do the following to correct the problem. Rename Dtkcabf.ace to Dtkcabr.ace and rename Dtkcabr.ace to Dtkcabf.ace. In kittel.cvf you need to make the follow changes. In direction for the frontview (line 9 in wordpad) change the middle number from 87 to 0. In direction for the rightview (line 19) change the middle number from 0 to 87. It appears that things got a bit screwed up in the naming process. Now when you select the kittel the initial cabview is facing forward.
Of course, make sure you back up before making any changes.RegardsJim.

RE: Initial Cabview Direction. How to change it?

Ted,After further investigation and a visit to Mad Mikes site I think that my information is incorrect. The cabview on his site shows the right view as in the original cvf file. I will see what I can find out.RegardsJim.

RE: Initial Cabview Direction. How to change it?

JimI saw that the 2 ACE files were swapped. I did your suggestion, and renamed them, and changing those 2 position numbers in the CVF. Now the initial view is to the front, but half (?) of the control graphics, including the fireplace, are in the FRONT view, and are missing from the right, where they belong.Any idea how to make them appear in the correct view too? If not, I might put it back to the old, incorrect way. At least all the parts are in the correct view.Ted

Ted,See my previous reply. It was not until I ran it for a while that I realised that is what had happened, the gauges and levers where incorrect. Oh well. It seemed like a good idea at the time.Regards,Jim.
