Hello,After designing a few engines, I'm gonna try to make some cabs for them. I have a strange problem. I've designed a cab in a 3d program but I have a problem with the trainbrake controller. When I import the controller and start up the sim the controller doesn't move. But when I use the same ace file for the locomotive brake, then it works fine, so I think the ace file is correct. I have already deleted the train brake and tried a second time but it still doesn't work. All setting are the same as those for the locomotive brake, except the position. What am I doing wrong
I'm no expert, but I think your problem might actually be found in the *.eng file for the loco. Compare the engine files of some other locos that use similar braking arrangements to yours. Specifically look at the braking entries. Good luck...Kyle H
Here's a possibility. The problem could be that the ENG file lacks the proper references to the train or engine brake. About 75% down into the ENG file look for the heading EngineControllers (You should have a pair of entries that look something like this. Brake_Engine ( 0 1 0.025 1 NumNotches ( 1 Notch( 0 1 Dummy ) ) ) Brake_Train ( 0 1 0.0125 0.6 NumNotches( 4 Notch(0 1 TrainBrakesControllerReleaseStart ) Notch(0.3 0 TrainBrakesControllerSelfLapStart ) Notch(0.5 1 TrainBrakesControllerApplyStart ) Notch(0.86 0 TrainBrakesControllerEmergencyStart ) ) )If either of these is missing the corresponding control in the cab view will not operate.Rick G
Those entries were already present in the eng file, but still the same problem. Note that the braking itself is working properly, just the animation of the lever isn't working. The lever has 28 positions. I already tried to import it in the cabview of the acella, but exactly the same problem. If I use it here for a train brake there is no animation in the lever, and when I use it for the locomotive brake the animation works fine. Is it possible that there is a limitation for the amount of positions of a lever??
Might be. Maybe try a control graphic with fewer frames?Nobody other than Kuju's programmers really knows how the internal MSTS code is set up. Usually we find out by trial and error what works and what doesn't.Rick
Ok the problem is fixed MouseControl ( 1 ) NumFrames ( 28 7 4 ) NumPositions ( 6 0 0 0 0 0 0 )In the line Numpositions the cabeditor has added 6 zeros. Those are the framenumbers of the ace file that correspond to the 6 potitions, in this case 6 times frame 0. After changing them the lever works just fine.
