Hi Folks...I have started a South African Railways Group for modelling DETAILED LOCOMOTIVES, ROLLING-STOCK ETC. FOR SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS FOR USE IN MICROSOFT TRAIN SIMULATOR (AND DETAILED, I MEAN DETAILED). The objective of my group is to MODEL EVERYTHING OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE AND AS ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE. The group is striving to raise the benchmark in realism of locomotives, rolling-stock etc. with detailed cabs for ALL the models as well as sound and realistic ENG files for PROTOTYPICAL LOCO BEHAVIOUR AND HANDLING! CREATING A TOTAL REALISTIC DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND IN DOING SO, TO ACCURATELY PRESERVE SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS LOCMOTIVES AND IT'S NOSTALGIA/MAGIC.
I offer A CERTIFICATE AND 80 POUNDS TO THE MOST DETAILED MODELS WHEN THE "GOLDEN SLEEPER" AWARDS TAKE PLACE EVERY 2-3 MONTHS OR SO FOR MEMBERS EFFORTS!!! THERE ALSO MAY BE SOMETHING INCREDIBLY EXCITING IN THE PROCESS BUT I WON'T SAY, JUST TAKE A LOOK IN THE POLLS SECTION OF THE MSTSSOUTHAFICANRAILWAYS GROUP!
WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR CAB MODELLERS WHO BELIEVE THEY CAN BUILD DETAILED AND REALISTIC CABS - PERHAPS YOU MAY CONSIDER YOUR CAB TO BE A WORK OF ART AND SOMETHING SPECIAL...SOMEONE IN THE GROUP HAS ALREADY WON THE "GOLDEN SLEEPER" AWARD FOR THEIR EXELLENT 19D CAB IN THE PHOTOS SECTION (CLICK ON THE PHOTO ONCE, WAIT FOR IT TO LOAD THEN CLICK ON IT AGAIN OR CLICK THE FULL VERSION LINK ON THE TOP IF THE PICTURE).
SO, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SEEING SOME EXEPTIONAL MODELLING TALENT, BELIEVE YOUR MODELLING CAN "CUT-IT", OR ARE JUST CURIOUS, COME AND HAVE A LOOK - YOU SHOULD BE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!
WE AT MSTS SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS ARE SERIOUS ABOUT MODELLING, WE HAVE COINED THE TERM SIMULATION ENGINEERING!
COME AND HAVE A LOOK AND PERHAPS JOIN THE TEAM IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE!

RE: MSTS SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS

Hi Chuck...Thanks but Johan Pretorius is already a member of my group - in fact he has already won a simulation engineering certificate and 80 pounds for his contribution - Class 37 diesel and is currently working on Class 19D steam locomotive cab which I have already tested for the group!
Thanks though for that, if you know of anyone else that would like to join that would be good! Why don't you join?CheersBrynPROUD OWNER OF THESE FINE GROUPS SUPPORTING SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS

RE: MSTS SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS

Just curious on your take of the difference in guage used in South Africa 3'6" as opposed to standard guage. Will you compensate with a lengthening of the axles and retain the overall original dimensions of the rolling stock or will you build on a larger scale ?

The measure of success is gauged by not how many times you've fallen but by how many times you've gotten back up

RE: MSTS SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS

Hi there...Thanks for the message. I will build to the normal 3.6 gauge scale but will compensate by building slightly smaller houses etc. when some routes get going. The nice thing about SAR locos is their wide loading gauge and their spread ouside the track confines making them look bigger as well as the gauge height being 3.96 I think which is pusing the limits of size for teh gauge. Against other locos of a bigger gauge, most SAR engines just about match for size and in may case HP too so it does not make that big of a difference. Log onto my MSTSSouthAfrican Railways site and have a look at some of the pics in the photos section, you will see a Class 25NC coming out of a tunnel, see how much space between tunnel roof and top of loco.Kind RegardsBryn MorganPROUD OWNER OF THESE FINE GROUPS SUPPORTING SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS
