RE: Eng with a signal lights

There are several out. You'll have to be more descriptive to narrow it down. I did the ones on CSX_7327 and a few more that are similar, but not prototypical. And there are several versions that are modeled precisely from the originals. You might also try searching for "cab signals" in the descriptions of the file downloads area. KH

RE: Eng with a signal lights

Hey Sniper I've seen that one referred to on here somewhere as the NS style signal repeater though I don't remember seeing it on the NS locos around here... Our packages also have ACSES Solor position light style repeaters on them, Pensy/PC style Position light repeaters, Color light repeaters (Both standared verticle and Metra Box type) and the Multi-function CAB80 style which has both position light and color light signals displayed for use with multiple signal systems.... We also have the the MBTA positive train stop type on our MBTA F40
It is not unusual for an engine to have multiple signal systems installed in this day and age of post merger railroading....Chuck Schneider

RE: Eng with a signal lights

Wouldn't surprise me, Chuck. Back in '94 when the UP first took over the C&NW, it was a common sight for the first couple years to see a C&NW engine as the lead with a few UP engines trailing behind. My dad (this was before his stroke when he still had all his marbles) said that was because the UP engines hadn't been re-equipped with the gadgets that tripped the crossing gates. Kinda like a TV remote thing or something, some kind of newfangled gadget that reduced the number of false trips. Years ago they used to have a section of track that had a low voltage signal current running thru it, and the axles of the train completed the circuit that tripped the grade crossing gates or block signals, trouble was kids would toss a hunk of metal across the tracks and tie up traffic, and there was one Milwaukee Road crossing at Belmont & River Road (popular alternate route from the West Side to O'Hare Field, unfortunately) that had the gates go down and stay down for several hours every time it rained.
I have no idea what the UP is doing now, the C&NW got rid of the semaphores on the Galena Division before I can remember, and there have been BNSF style signals on that line as far back as my memory goes (I'm 49). Now they're screwing around with putting up sideways signals along with signals sticking up over the top of the signal bridge, and it seems like every few weeks they're changing them again. Anyway, they musta changed something in the trips or the cabs cuz after '97 the only thing you see in C&NW colors anymore is the switchers at Proviso or 40th St. yards, or sometimes in an engine hop going from one to the other.Well. There I go rambling again, I figured the guy was talking about this particular geep cabview, and I know there's lots of others.Eng with a signal lights – image 3
This was always one of my favorites for big diesels, got a clock and the PRR style signals in the upper left. f45cab.zip, I forget who made it.Eng with a signal lights – image 4
Here's your C&NW cab, also got a clock and the signal repeater above the speedometer. Nice artwork, too, was that Sam Spade?Eng with a signal lights – image 5
This is TA's latest from the SD40-2 they sold to MS. I hacked it a little (green repainted cowl, sharpened the focus on some gauges, washed the windows) for the PO&N SD40-2 set I uploaded (still forgot to make the GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!) last weekend. Obviously taken from an actual photo, most realistic cabview I've seen yet. It definitely needs a clock and signal repeaters, but it's PRETTY!

RE: Eng with a signal lights

Yep it sure am pretty..... Color is too pink for me but that's personal taste...The top two are ours and are Graeme's work (SamSpade to you LOL)....
I don't have pix of it but I run a lot of TKW's reskins of the lower unit and since they are CR and probably have PRR signals I hacked mine to have them.... The Cab80 units are too big and the Color Position Light ala NEC and ASCES are too new.... I am waiting for a UP or CNW skin of these since I already know that the METRA/CNW style repeater will fit on there also....Chuck Schneider

LAST EDITED ON Nov-04-02 AT 01:09 PM (EST)

Just for the record, the one on the Geep is not modeled after any prototypical cab signal system. It is another of the ones I created for personal use, and uploaded it after being asked to do so by fellow train-simmers. It matches up for the most part, with the Main signals that CSX uses here in North Georgia. Kyle
