I want to raise the eyepoint a few inches on one of the cab views I have to provide better visibility out the center window. Adjusting the position and direction parameters in the .cvf file seems to only affect the locomotive, not the viewer. Is there a parameter that can be adjusted that will leave the locomotive position as it is but makes me taller?
As far as I can tell, you can't do this unless you have access to the original cab model. Two kinds of models are used in MSTS. The 2D model uses an actual cab photo over which the artist superimposes control objects. The 3D model is built up piece-by-piece and all of the controls are an integral part of the model. In the 2D model, the point of view is determined by the position of the photographer's camera. In the 3D model the modeler chooses a position for the "virtual" camera and this position is frozen everafter. So in either case, the artist has predetermied the location and angle from which you the user will view the scene. The only relevant parameters you can adjust in the CVF file are Position and Direction. The Direction parameter has a significant effect over the angles at which the external world appears. If the numbers aren't right, everything outside the windows will be skewed. I wouldn't mess with this one. I confess I'm not sure what the Position parameter does as I haven't played with it enough.Anybody else have an idea on this?Rick G
