Greetings all,I have been working on a cab for V/Lines S Class Locomotive it is about 75% compleate but I am having problems getting the Independent Brake to work correctly. For those who know the brake equipment fitted to this loco is the Westing house A7EL.At the moment I cant get it to animate and work as the real thing though if I leave it set up as a 26L brake it work's ok.
If anyone can point me in the direction resolve this little set back I would be very grateful.Christine.

RE: Aussie S Class Cab (Needs Help with Brake)

Here's one possibility. Check your ENG file. In the controls section (near the end before the descriptive text) there should be a block of code like this: Brake_Engine ( 0 1 0.025 1
NumNotches ( 1
Notch( 0 1 Dummy )
)
)If this is missing the independent brake won't work even if everything in the CVF file is correct. The above does not simulate any particular manufacturer's brake. in fact there are no "notches" at all. You can modify to suit. There could be a lot of other causes of your problem. Keep posting, tell us what's functioning and what's not, and one of us will eventually help you figure it out.BTW, really nioce work!Rick

RE: Aussie S Class Cab (Needs Help with Brake)

If you're needing train brakes with "Release/Running/Lap/Apply/Full Service/Emergency", then take a look at Train Artisan's RS11 eng file. It has wonderful brakes. I'm not familiar with the A7EL, but the one's in the RS11 are like the 6BL system. They are NOT self lapping. If you don't want self lapping brakes, you might like them.BTW, that is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS work, there Christine.Shame the engineer is sitting on the wrong side for my cab units! Don't tell Pheniox about that yet James. He'll be really pushing you to start work on that.Great cab there Christine. I have made a skin for the VR S-class that was availible at the Steam4me site so that it could be reskun as Steamrail's S313. It seems that the B and S-class diesels are very popular.Regards

> Thank's I did a reskin of 3Dtrains original F unit many moon's ago and a reskin of the 2nd version but with a tweiked engine file to make it run more realistically. Both units are still available in the file's area.At the moment I am still working on the air brake side of things in the ENG file (Should be done in a day or two) I have added a few more things to the cab since I first posted here. One thing I would like to add is notch 5 engine rev's sound to the dynamic brake but I am having trouble getting my head around the MSTS sound system Here are a couple of snap's of my reskin'sChristine.

RE: Aussie S Class Cab (Needs Help with Brake)

So that was your loco that appeared on the steam4me site as the beta version with the corrected V/Line logo on the front?I have also been trying to make the following S-class skins. S300-West Coast Railway
S303-Freight Australia
S317-Great Northern RailIn July I undertook my work experience at the GNR depot at Bendigo and saw quite a bit of S317 in the GN colours. And finally where did you get the F3A loco without the 2nd headlight, it gets really annoying when you make a skin and there is a bulge where the headlight is.

Matthew Davis

LAST EDITED ON Oct-26-02 AT 10:52 AM (EDT)

I'll probably get some photos and create a non-animated cab. I'll animate the speedometer and other gauges though. I want to at least get a basic cab ready within about one or two weeks so it doesn't use the GP38 cab when I release it! I'll see how I go with the cab editor though.--Victorian Railfan Web Site:

>24RL-MC1 In real life the Independent brake valve has 5 positions starting from the Left and moving to the right.1. Quick release and bail off as TS calls it.
2. Release and running.
3. Lap.
4. Slow application.
5. Quick application.I had intended only to use positions 2, 3 and 4 in Train Sim.The Train Brake I have got working its positions are.1. Release and charging (Direct Connection Main Reservoir to Brake Pipe).
2. Running (Main Reservoir Via M3 Feed valve to Brake Pipe).
3. Lap.
4. Service.
5. Emergency.In Train Sim I have only used 2, 3, 4 and 5.Christine.

Notch ( 0.55 0 TrainBrakesControllerFullServiceStart )

RE: Aussie S Class Cab (Needs Help with Brake)

Hi tchouftchouf,Thank you for the info it was exactly what I needed.I I have got the CAB animation finished and have just put the final touches to the ENG file. I will be uploading the finished product in the next day or so after I have tested the self installer program.I did have one problem come out your suggestion. The sound for the brake handle movement just kept on playing over and over so I have had to remove that effect from the sound files. Other than that it runs like a dream. Here's a shot of the final cab.ThanksChristine.
