Is there a limit to the size of the .ace file or the control actual size when using the cab editor?I'm producing a cab, but can't get the Master Controller to appear in the cab view! The .bmp is 600 x 750, and is split into a 2 x 3 grid making 300 x 250 for each control. I've got the ace file constructed and can open it in TGATool2 without any problems, but when I place it in the cab, all I get is an empty green box in the editor, and of course nothing in the cab view in MSTS proper! I can activate the control with the mouse, but can't see it.I've checked that I'm using the updated makeacewin, so can discount that one!Does anyone have any suggestions?Paul
Paul, the entire cab area in the cab editor is only 640x480 - so your control is, um, somewhat large. Was that your intention? Try using your graphics editor to resize the image down to a representative size, if not.For reference, the CTBC controller in my LUR cab uses an area of 168x88 (x 12 animation images (3 x 4) gives an ACE size of 504x352. The size I used covers the entire area "swept" by the control during its animation frames. One you get it to a smaller size, place the control and use the properties box to tell the cab editor the layout of the frames (e.g. 2 x 3 in your case) so it can calculate the number of frames and the size of each.If this doesn't help, yell and I'll try and help.Regards, Jimi
Hi,The size of each frame in the animation is limited to 256 pixels. You could try splitting it into two separate controls in the .cvf file, using two .ace files with correspondingly smaller animation frames.Have fun
Good point, Clem! But I'm still curious what kind of a control could take up about 25% of the available screen area. I'm assuming it's not just a Very Big Lever...
The cab is quite small on the unit I'm building. The actual cab size is approx 3' x 3', with the cab window only 2' wide. Therefore even a control lever that is only 1' long is over 256 pixels! Allowing for all the positions it easily exceeds this size! I'm building the cab view from an internal view from inside the unit, so that when i want to go in reverse, the cab is the same, (except the controls don't move)!I don't want to give away too much what it is, as everytime I've mentioned what I'm building, someone else normally announces one and I give up! Only to find that it's never released, but by then I've lost interest and found another project!Cab view (Internal (key 5) view attached).By the way, thanks for all the help you've given me, I want to try to release this as part of a route, including custom signals. Unless I see a request for this then thats the way I'll leave it.Paul
