I've attached a few screenshots (640x480) to show progress thus far. These were created by 3D Canvas Pro and POV-Ray, simulating the effect of minimal "outside" light and a dim red light (ambient) in the cab. I decided to backlight the gauges in orange - I have no idea if this is typical, but it feels OK. BTW, these are the TGA files that will become the cab ACE files, so no gauge needles and a few lights/switches are not shown. The illuminated radio and panel switch effects, etc. in the left view were done using PSP7 after the raytracing.Do the results look at all realistic? Or if not realistic, would you find this usable for dusk/night/dawn use? All comments and suggestions welcomed. If this flies, I'll put out a final V1.0 version of the 30000 with both day and night cabs, and a batch file to switch them. One final "trick" I'm experimenting with, is to see if I can simulate the gauges being dark (if loco lights are off) and illuminate them when the lights are turned on. Why? 'Cos I wondered if it was possible. Whether it's of any actual value is another story Regards, JimiFRONT
