I have a PC and video card which can handle 1600x1200. However, when I set to this resolution for the scenery improvements, I can't read the info in the cab. The track monitor, next station, etc. are in a font so tiny as to be unreadable. Is there a way I can increase the font size for the HUDs, monitors, etc in the cab?THANKS!
Hi,Somewhere on a dusty shelf in the archive is a thread about this. May be you can do search. May take a long time. Otherwise, try and error. In the Gui folder of the route, you find a file gui_fnts.dat. This defines the fonts that are avaible. Each font has a number. Now in the folder Gui\DRIVERAIDS you find several .dat files that defines the look of the Hud, Trackmonitor, etc. In these files the font number are used and the color of the font. Remember these files are all Unicode.Dick van den Hoven
dvdhoven THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!I figured out the font stuff, now on to the size of the boxes. And then ... bat files to do appropriate renames of different font-sized driver aids when I change resolution. This is just *TOO* cool.My aging eyes THANK YOU!!!!
Dick, I have the font and xy coordinate stuff correct now. However, the box/gridlines the track monitor, next station, etc occupy are still small. Any idea where the settings for the box reside? I've tried tweaking the numbers in the driveraids.dat file and that wasn't it.
The easiest way is lower your MSTS resoultion. The best are either 640x480 or 1024x768 as the cabs are only in these resoultions. Anything other than those will stretch the cabview.
sp - what I am trying to accomplish is high resolution so the scenery looks good. When I do that, the builtins in the cab (controls, speedo, etc) all keep the same size as before. The driver aids (track monitor, next station) occupy less and less of the screen as the resolution increases. At anything past 1024x768, it is almost impossible to read the driver aids.
Most of the aids use font 9 ( a 10 pt one). At perhaps 640x480, 10 pt is a HUGE font. At 1600x1200, 10 pt is microscopic.I want to use bigger fonts at higher resolutions. I have the font and xy coordinate placement of the data working, but the boxes containing the data are still tiny.I would like to increase the size of the boxes as I increase the resolution.
