To anyone that can help,
I recently downloaded the F45 w/ upgrade and the CN SD-40W. Then downloaded the cabs, (F45 and the GMD widecab). The cab views do show up but a major portion of the control stand is invisible. I can see the gauge needles but there are no gauges and the only handles I see are the independant brake, the dynamic brake, and the bell, nothing else. Anyone else ever encounter this problem? It's the same with both cabs. Someone help, my wife's getting mad at me for being on here too much trying to figure this thing out! Anyone else ever encounter this problem too?? Thanks for any help.
Phil

Have you done the aliasing correctly? For the GMD widecab, did you create a cabview folder in the engine one and copy the alias cvf to it? And finaly have you edited the eng file to point to that cvf file?Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Cab installation

I guess so Kevin, I finally got it to where there is even a cab view. This is my first time changing the cabs so I may have something that's not exactly right(obviously). I don't know what to do now. Thanks for the reply.

RE: Cab installation

Make sure that there are no " marks. - it should look like this -
CabView ( GMDwidecab.cvf )
You only need the " marks when you are aliasing to a different folder.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Cab installation

OK just checked it and I have no marks, I did put in the NDB version, maybe I'll change it to the dynamic version.

RE: Cab installation

Today I downloaded the F40ph and the cab, did everything the readme said to do and now have another cab with the "floating needles". I don't know what else to do or what's wrong!!!

RE: Cab installation

Hello KCS!All you should have to do is copy the .cvf file of your choice from the CVF_alias folder, paste the .cvf file into your cabview folder, and rename the line ' cabview ( gp38.cvf ) ' to ' cabview ( GMDwidecab-ndb.cvf ) '. Make sure you don't remove the spaces between the names...Sounds to me like the computer found the GP38 cabview photo (.ace) files, but can't find some of the widecab's (.ace) files.Odd thing too, this happened to another guy with the KLW F59PH cab, GP38 gauges, no cab.Wonder if it has to do with the file being a 1024 X 1024 .ace photo....Take care!Kurt

RE: Cab installation

Hey Kurt,
I've been back over my steps time and time again and can't figure this thing out. I've changed my cvf files just like you said and in accordance with the readme files and am still having the same problem. I've kept all of my zip files and have decided to start all over with the whole thing. Thanks for the replies Kurt and Kevin, I'll let you guys know if it works out or not. Wish me luck.
10-4 over and out!

RE: Cab installation

You have not stated what resolution you run MSTS at. I presume it is less than 1024x768 because of the problem you describe.Kurt has left the 1024 identifier on his filename. MSTS is programmed to recognise files which end in 1024 as high-resolution and as such lower resolutions will ignore the file.There are three solutions:Kurt creates a 640x480 version of the front view;
You run the sim at 1024x768 (set under the display options)
You rename the front ace file removing '1024' from the filename plus modify the cvf file the same way.Personally I think the sim looks terrible below 1024x768 and none of my cabs have a low resolution version! That's probably why I missed this error when I worked with Kurt on the files!
