LAST EDITED ON May-25-02 AT 11:59 PM (EDT)I thought I had followed the instructions to the letter, but I get an incomplete front view with needles and controls hanging in the air. I went into the gp38j.cvf file and found a typo ... one of the .ace files was mistyped. It didn't help to fix it.I'm trying to use the new cabview with Justin Cornell's GP39. I edited the .eng file to reference the gp38j.cvf file, and copied the aforementioned file into the gp39 cabview folder.I thought the discussion posted about four topics below this would help out, but I Yellowdog's description of what he did to fix the problem was too cryptic to be of any help.Another mystery is how the Sym finds the CabViewWindowFiles. The alias statements in the .cvf file suggest that AcWndFrn.ace, for example, is in the default GP38 Cabview folder ... it isn't, yet the default views load fine for me.Stymied .....
Figured it out. I have MSTS loaded on my D drive and I'm running XP which does it's own version of UnZip. The result is that I had to create the installation path and I had Common.Cab one level too high .... in \Trains rather than \Trainset. Moving it down fixed the problem.I had the same problem with NALW's SD40 sounds. Their readme file had the path written wrong (said Trainset\Trains rather than Trains\Trainset). Actually, now that I look at the printed copy, the gp38cab3 has the same error. So, be careful when you are "browsing" to point the installer to the right directory.
