Okay, I am running a Pentium 200 MMX, 48M Ram, 4M PCI graphics (Rendition Verite chipset, lastest Redition drivers, which are verified for about Direct X 6 . I know, I need a faster computer but anyway. . . .I was wondering if anyone had any idea on some graphics glitches that I am having on my computer. I have been thinking through a lot of ideas and you may have seen my posts on the MSTS conference of the forum.Problem 1: The Gulsdorf 380 cab does not display correctly in MSTS. The cab is partially there with little tan squares (about 1-inch square to 1x1.5 inch square on a 17-inch monitor) missing at various places. The Gulsdorf 380 works on my wife's computer, which is much faster.I initially thought it was Direct X problems with the video card, but EVERYTHING (almost, more on that later) else works and the cabviews shouldn't be that intensive on a video card. All the engines work, exterior views work, zoom works, The following other cabs work: All other MSTS defaults, ESE, TA's F7, 3DTS's SD70, Mark Toland's Alco S4, Spittler's 2098 (although it looks like the default b/c of the low resolution), etc. Other than the following question, I have not found another cabview that doesn't work?Questions: Can conbuilder check for missing cabview files? Is it possible I have bad or missing cabview files? If so, can I just copy the files from /trainset/gulsdorf/cabview from the MSTS CD (or my wife's computer) and probably fix this?Problem 2: I was messing with 3D Trains GP-9 cabview last night and had something interesting happen (which reminded me of this). The original model references the GP-38 cabview. This bothered me so I tried the following:I d/L the cabalias file and installed aliases for all the default loco's. I d/l a file called dash9cab.zip (I think?) which I think was done by NALW. The file installed to .../trainset/common.cab/gp9/ I also d/l a different cabview called hinoscb2.zip (I think?). It recommended placing it in the cabview folder of the engine, but I put it in ..trainset/common.cab/gp9v1/. See http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/8832.html for aliasing hints, but this shouldn't be a problem because even if the file uses aliases, it is the same number of levels down for trainset (/common.cab/gp9v1/ or /gp9/cabview/) either way.I first went into the gp9.eng file and changed the cabview ( gp38.cvf) line to cabview ( "..\\..\\common.cab\\dash9\\dash9.cvf" ) and the engine loaded with the default dash 9 cab. Then I changed to line to cabview ( "..\\..\\commmon.cab\\gp9\\gp9-wdb.cvf" ) and the new cab view opened. This was pretty accurate, except that the left side view was the same as the GE Dash 9. Next I changed the line to cabview ( "..\\..\\common.cab\\gp9v1\\gp38.cvf") (That was the correct file name!) When I ran the train, there was no cabview at all, just a white l down the left side of the screen and track in front of me.I did not try running the second cabview files directly from the GP9's cabview folder, will attempt that tonight!!!Any suggestions!!!
